Comedian Christian Cabrera has died aged 40 from Covid.
This comes after he told his brother that he “regretted” not getting the Covid-19 vaccination just days before he passed away from the virus.
The southern Californian native first contracted Covid shortly after Christmas time.
The star was a dad to a three-year-old and was hospitalised earlier in January after feeling short of breath.
Christian’s brother Jino Cabrera told KTLA he was sceptical of the vaccine after claiming he never got ill.
However, days before he passed, Christian texted his brother: “I can’t breathe again. I really regret not getting the vaccine.”
“If I could do it all over again, I would do it in a heartbeat to save my life.”
In an Instagram post, Christian shared a photo of him linked up to a ventilator while in an intensive care ward.
He captioned the post: “Been here almost a week in ICU now not breathing on my own with Covid pneumonia infection on both lungs!
“This has to be the worst pain i ever had in my life! thanks for all the love and prayers everyone! i can hear all ya prayers on my sleep! thank you and hope to see ya all soon! and thank you @michaelblackson for ya prayers and from all ya wonderful amazing friends.”
Floods of supportive messages have flocked in on social media to pay tribute to the star.
His family members said the comic “had such a beautiful heart and soul and only wanted to bring laughter and joy to those around him”.
They also added: “Our hearts are completely broken, we did not prepare for his sudden passing.”
Fellow comedian Michael Blackson penned: “@Chinesebestfrnd taught me what a true friendship is and I’ll never call anyone else my best friend.
“He was selfless and cared about everyone more than himself. Thanks for coming to my life Christian, I love u homie.”
In a separate post, he also wrote: “This is absolutely the worst day of my life.”
Another person typed: “Omg noooooo I’m so so sorry! He was the coolest and humble Filipino brother man. Goshhhhh we were supposed to do a radio show together. Rest in heaven. You were one of the humble funniest ppl I met!”
While another typed: “Sending love, prayers and support to the family. Tragic news, rest easy brotha.”
