X Factor star Chico has revealed how he was conned out of his life savings and how an ITV show saved him.
The talented star chatted exclusively to the Daily Star on a Facebook Live tell-all where she revealed the secrets behind his wild TV past to showbiz reporter Carly Hacon.
Chico starred on ITV show X Factor in 2005 and even had a number one single off the back of it, It’s Chico Time, which knocked Madonna off the top spot.
But it all came tumbling down when he lost all of his earnings during a dodgy Dubai deal.
However, luckily the star was able to turn things around after landing a sought-after spot on Dancing On Ice in 2012
Chico revealed: “That was another miracle for me again sometimes before that I had lost all my investment and life savings in Dubai and I got conned out of it in a property deal.
“Cut a long story short, I had £3.70 in my pocket and I was supposed to buy bread and milk but I saw a homeless man. Then when I got home, my wife was freaking out, and I was like ‘never fear, God is always near’. Something always works out…
“Then 10 mins later, I had a call from the producers of Dancing On Ice and they asked me if I can skate and I said I’m absolutely desperate but I can’t skate for toffee and she said perfect!”
He continued: “So, I went to see Torvill and Dean and when I got back that night I said ‘have I got the job and how much is it?’
“And she said ‘yes’ and the money was exactly what I needed to pay off on the credit card.
“I told Richard random this story before and I turned around and he was crying, and I was like ‘oh my god, I made Richard Branson cry!”
He also revealed he shared a spiritual moment with the late Princess Diana.
Chico revealed that she had appeared to him shortly after her tragic car crash death in 1997 and caused him to break down in tears.
Speaking about the tragedy, Chico said: “When she sadly passed away I was driving back from my dad’s and I just started crying uncontrollably and had to pull over.”
The sadness caused him to have an “out of body experience” which prompted him to write a song about her in 15 minutes.
“It’s an experience I’ve not had before or after, my whole body was tingling and I had an out of body experience.”
