Dancing On Ice's Liberty Poole's horror injury fears as skate hit partner's 'balls'

Dancing On Ice star Liberty Poole feared she had damaged her partner’s ‘snowballs’.

The Love Island contestant is being trained by professional Joe Johnson – and, during a tricky routine, she caught her skate in his nether regions.

Former Nandos waitress Liberty revealed: “The other day, because I whacked something, I was like ‘Oh my god, are you all right? Did I just whack your balls or something?’

“And he was like ‘It’s okay. That was my microphone pack, don’t worry!

“So that was funny, but thankfully I have not had any bad mishaps yet, fingers crossed.”

Liberty says she is eager to be braver on the ice and do more daring stunts as her rivals, such as Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt, are upping their game on the ITV show.

She added: “I keep seeing things online from fans saying ‘We want you to do the splits in the air and then land on the floor’ and I was just like ‘Yeah, that’s not going to happen!’

“I can’t do the standing splits like Kimberly. I won’t lie. So don’t expect that from me!

“I’m just focusing on beating my score from last week, not anyone else’s.

“I’m definitely looking to increase difficulty with the skating and the lifts. I want to get better and better each week, that’s for sure.”

Liberty feared she’d injured her partner

Appearing on Lorraine this week, Liberty teased a “difficult” judges’ challenge for the upcoming weekend – and insisted she will be doing a lot more solo skating in her next routine.

She teased a “rollercoaster” themed dance with her professional partner Joe Johnson.

The TV personality then later told temporary host Ranvir Singh that she couldn’t reveal exactly what the next judges’ challenge entails.

However, Liberty let slip to Ranvir that the contestants will be doing “a lot more solo skating” on Sunday night.

It comes as This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield is set to return to present Dancing On Ice after being absent last week due to a positive Covid-19 result.

Instead, Stephen Mulhern stepped in for him – but now Phil has the all clear, he’ll be back by Holly Willoughby’s side.

The pair got emotional last Sunday as they were reunited, after initially working together on children’s TV way back when.

Turning to Holly, Stephen asked: “Can you believe it’s actually been 16 years since we have worked together on kids TV?”

“I know,” Holly agreed. “Saturday mornings we used to do. And we’ve grown up now – we’re grown ups! Look at us, doing proper big telly!”

Dancing On Ice continues on Sunday, February 13 at 6pm.
