Katie Price’s terminally ill mum breaks down in an emotional clip from her daughter’s new TV show.
Amy, 63, is brought to tears as she speaks about dying and her reasons for passing down a family heirloom to her 43-year-old model daughter.
She was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) in 2017, an incurable condition where the lungs become scarred and breathing becomes painful and increasingly difficult.
Appearing on the All 4 show Mucky Mansion, the mother revealed that she was now making a ‘happy room’ at Katie’s large home to give her somewhere to go when she feels sad or uncomfortable.
Sharing her idea behind the space, she tells the camera: “When you’re not well you look at things in a different way and it would be nice if you can leave things that people can remember you by.
“Once it is done I want it to be a happy room, a comforting room, whenever she is sort of not feeling too good she can come in here and it will be quiet.
“And she can reflect. That’s what I think will be nice for her.”
Her design sees the room covered in floral wallpaper and green walls along with bamboo-style furniture. One item in the room which Amy says has special sentimental value is a Chinese bureau, which has been with her for 50 years.
An emotional Katie reacts well to the unveiling and praises the ambience of the space, before divulging that she wanted her to design the room as it “could actually potentially be the last thing she ever does for me”.
She adds: “Hopefully she doesn’t pass, but when she eventually does, I know I have a room that she put together. It’s sentimental, a nice room, a happy room to be in.”
According to the NHS, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis usually affects people over 70 and is rare in people under 50.
Episodes 1 to 3 of Mucky Mansion are available now on All 4.
