The Chase is famous for its innuendos and tongue-in-cheek questions with host Bradley Walsh often struggling to hold back the giggles when caught off-guard.
And Friday’s edition of the popular ITV gameshow was no different after the former Coronation Street star welcomed four new quizzers on the show, all ready to take on the Chaser.
For the latest nail-biting episode, the 61-year-old introduced Michael, Adrian, Dot and Jenny onto the show as they prepared to take on Darragh ‘The Ennis’ Menace.
But there was one question that took back the dad-of-two who struggled to read a fart-based question with a straight face as he burst into laughter in the nerve-wracking one-to-one round.
As he attempted to take add £6,000 to the group jackpot, quiz head Michael was asked an embarrassing question that left him stumped on air.
Initially faced with the question, Brad giggled as he asked: “Where was John Young in 1972 when his comment ‘I have the farts, again’ was inadvertently broadcast to the world?”
Michael was given three option, one more hilarious than the other as Brad asked: “Was it At Buckingham Palace, On the Moon or In a pantomime horse costume?”
And he wasn’t the only person who struggled to keep a straight face, as Darragh struggled to stop the corners of his mouth turning up in laughter while the gameshow host hoped that the answer was the pantomime costume.
Blissfully ignorant of the historic moment, Michael decided that the answer to the bizarre question was at the Buckingham Palace.
But Darragh was quick to correct him on the hilarious answer as he explained that the question was a reference to the hilarious TV blunder where the astronaut found himself struggling to hold back his gas while on the moon.
And it’s fair to say he wasn’t alone as fans of the show flooded to Twitter to share their thoughts at the ridiculous general knowledge question online.
Luckily, Michael managed to make it through to the final round with his two other teammates where the trio managed to answer 20 questions correctly in the time limit.
With £18,000 in the pot, the trio were inches away from taking home the prize money but Darragh managed to beat them to the post in the last second leaving the group empty-handed.
