This Morning's Alison Hammond breaks down as she sobs she's had obesity 'all her life'

Alison Hammond was left heartbroken during the latest episode of This Morning after she spoke openly about her struggles with obesity and weight gain.

The presenter broke down in tears after she gave insight into the difficulties of losing weight and how obesity is often misunderstood.

While listening to a caller who spoke about her daughter’s pain with binge-eating, Alison sobbed as she revealed that she has had “obesity all of her life.”

But Alison failed to hold back her tears as she spoke about her condition, leaving the TV producers no other choice than to quickly cut to an advertisement break.

Seeing the bubbly presenter cry on screen, fans of the show rushed to Twitter to share their support.

One viewer wrote: “So sad to see Alison so upset. Alison you are an amazing person. Your personality brightens my day. Sending love and hugs.”

Another said: “If I’d had someone like Alison to look up too when I was younger I’d have felt so much more accepted, you really are making an impact.”

The star was left inconsolable

A third supporter shared: “Aah Alison you’re making me cry … bless you. By being so vulnerable you’ve probably helped so many people this morning. Lovely that Deidre and Dermot had your back. Love you gorgeous lady.”

While another said: “Alison is right some people do look down on overweight people, or make snide comments, it’s so upsetting. I’m so upset to see her cry. Alison, you look amazing !!”

After the presenter consoled herself, she spoke openly to her co-host Dermot O’Leary admitting that she felt as though she was watching herself on screen but needed to get it out.

Alison shared her experience

Comforting her, Dermot told Alison that she didn’t have to apologise for crying on screen.

He also admitted that she still looked amazing even though she was breaking down.

Sharing insight on obesity again, the star highlighted that it is a medical condition that many people fail to understand.

According to the NHS website, adults are generally considered obese if they have a body mass index of 30 or above.
