Legendary headbanger Ozzy Osbourne and his wife Sharon have applied for a ‘rehabilitation wing’ to be added to his country mansion to help him in his fight against Parkinson’s.
The Black Sabbath star first announced he was battling with the disease back in 2020 and he and Sharon were recently reported to be moving back to the UK after 20 years living in America – a response to the rise in taxes Stateside, it’s been claimed.
The pair are expected to move into their expansive estate in the village of Jordans in Buckinghamshire in the not-too-distant future and have submitted a planning application to the local council to have an extension built on their palatial Grade II-listed gaff.
According to Buckinghamshire Live, the new wing will include discrete grab rails and mobility aids, an ‘abundance of stopping and sitting spaces’, ramps, soft non-slip surfaces and a live-in nurse’s flat. They also wish to have a ‘pool house orangery’, and a ‘health and welfare exercise studio’.
The plans also revealed a desire to connect to nature with a proposed lake also featured, along with an outside garden art room with a north-facing glazed roof. If approved, security will also be tightened, with improvements made to the historic estate CCTV system and plans for a taller fence.
There have been no objections from neighbours as of yet and the parish council has not rejected the proposal.
The house itself was built in the late 1890s for politician Charles Thomson Ritchie and was once reportedly used by the War Office as a rest home for WWI army nurses suffering from mental fatigue.
Ozzy has also previously spoken about how having Parkinson’s has affected his mental health.
“Over the past three years I have got a therapist,” said the dad-of-eight.
“When I was a kid in England, you would not go to a therapist because they’d think you were f*****g crazy.
“But it’s OK. You ain’t stupid for going to a therapist, but you are stupid not to go if you need one.”
Birmingham-born Ozzy had a second shot at fame in the early noughties when he and his extensive brood starred in an MTV reality show entitled The Osbournes.
It was a huge success and ran for several years. He and Sharon are now said to be working on a biopic of their lives together.
