Eamonn Holmes forced to take GB News break after 'unexpected' hospital treatment

Eamonn Holmes has been forced to take a TV break after receiving “unexpected hospital treatment”.

The GB News presenter, 62, confirmed the hiatus in a Twitter post on Monday (June 6).

While Eamonn didn’t disclose the nature of his treatment, he did say a “reoccurrence of a long-term back condition” had led to his break from the programme and his hospital visit.

The announcement follows Eamonn previously suffering three slipped discs in his back which had been causing him nerve damage.

In a statement on Twitter, Eamonn wrote: “Hi everyone, many of you have been asking why I haven’t been presenting GB News for the past week.

“Unfortunately, due to a reoccurrence [sic] of a long-term back condition, I’ve had to undergo some unexpected hospital treatment and am now following doctor’s orders by taking a short time off.

“However, I’m looking forward to being back alongside Isabel, my Breakfast co-presenter and friend, next week.

“Even though I only joined GB News six months ago the whole team and our amazing audience have shown me immense support which has been greatly appreciated.”

Quick to send Eamonn their well-wishes were fans from within his one million Twitter followers.

One fan wrote: “Wishing you a speedy recovery, Eamonn.”

Another replied: “Sorry to hear this Eamonn and sorry that you missed the Jubilee celebration but your health is the most important thing.

“Take care of yourself and we will look forward to having you back when you’re better.”

Meanwhile, a third shared: “Sending you love and strength for a speedy recovery.”

In May last year, Eamonn revealed he had become temporarily “crutch dependent” after his slipped disc diagnosis, following a spell of ill-health.

He was also diagnosed with a dislocated pelvis and had to use a cane.

Eamonn’s latest health scare follows him battling Shingles in 2018.

The Northern Irish star said he resembled something from a “Hammer horror film” after sores opened up on his face as his body reacted to the illness.
