Daisy Edgar-Jones' net worth and who else Normal People star has dated

Smash television show Normal People made Daisy Edgar-Jones one of the most recognisable faces in the UK.

The BBC programme topped the broadcaster’s iPlayer streaming service in 2020 giving her and Paul Mescal their breakout roles.

The saucy Irish romantic saga put Edgar-Jones, 24, on the map, and it was not long before America came knocking.

She has now made her Hollywood debut in Where The Crawdads Sing.

But has her recent acting success, which also includes appearances in ITV’s Cold Feet, helped to line her pockets?

Attempts at working out the Londoner’s wealth suggest she has done well for herself, even before landing her Stateside break.

Daisy Edgar-Jones’ net worth

Edgar-Jones is said to be worth more than £800,000, according to the website Stars Unfolded.

However, that estimate was produced before the release of Where The Crawdads Sing.

If the film, based on the Delia Owens international bestseller, proves a hit with audiences, then she could be in for a bank account-boosting windfall.

Reviews of the film have not been kind, though.

The Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw said the Bafta-nominated Normal People star deserved a better big-screen debut “than this southern gothic schmaltzer and its outrageously evasive cheat ending”.

Despite her incredible on-screen chemistry with Normal People co-star Paul Mescal, the pair did not date.

The duo regularly hang out though, with Daisy only two months ago posting a picture on Instagram of her smiling with her “best mate”.

Edgar-Jones was previously in a relationship with Ackley Bridge actor Tom Varey and admitted her ex watched the sex scenes between her and Paul through gritted teeth.

Daisy and Tom were said to have fallen for each other on the set of 2018’s Pond Life.

But they split in February 2021, with The Sun reporting that Edgar-Jones had moved out of their London pad and back in with her parents.

What is Where The Crawdads Sing about?

In the film produced by Reese Witherspoon, Daisy – who has been praised for her southern American drawl – plays Catherine “Kya” Clark.

The youngster has learned to fend for herself from the age of six in a ramshackle house on marshland where her father (Garret Dillahunt) routinely beats her mother (Ahna O’Reilly) until the bruised matriarch leaves, followed by Kya’s older siblings.

Later on in the film, a touching romance ends when her love interest heads to college, only for character Chase Andrews, played by Harris Dickinson, to chase her affections despite opposition from his mother.

When Chase is found dead at the base of a rusty fire tower, the finger of suspicion points at Kya, with lawyer Tom Milton (David Strathairn) agreeing to mount a robust defence.
