Most fans enjoyed the exciting and classic gameshow, but some slammed it for being more suited to the host of the original show when it aired in the 80s and 90s.

Alan Carr’s Epic Gameshow sees the much-loved funny man take on the challenge of hosting a classic British gameshow – with previous weeks seeing him host a game of Bullseye.

But this week saw him take on Strike It Lucky – a gameshow that aired between 1986 and 1999 – which was headed up by Michael Barrymore.

Viewers were divided over Alan hosting the show, but one fan took to Twitter and even called for the gameshow to be commissioned into a permanent “full series” because they enjoyed Alan’s work so much.

They penned: “#StrikeItLucky by far the best of the #EpicGameshow formats – just suits Alan Carr more than any other. @ITV should commission a full series of this rather than persist with Epic Gameshow and too many episodes of Bullseye.”

But someone else slammed the comedian for a “rookie mistake” and said: “Someone tell Alan Carr you are supposed to say ‘what is a hot spot not’. And the audience shout back ‘… a good spot’. When a contestant hits a hot spot !!!!!”

A third then tweeted: “Like @alancarr but this show personified Michael Barrymore and it’s just not the same! #strikeitlucky.”
