Fuming Coronation Street star announces she's 'quitting' acting over 'lack of respect'

Former Coronation Street star Vicky Entwistle has revealed she’s thinking about “retiring” from acting.

The actress, who played Janice Battersby in the ITV soap for 14 years, has announced she’s planning on ditching showbiz after not receiving feedback from directors after attending auditions.

She said on Twitter: “Just had a few Zoom auditions. Half of me thinks I’m lucky.. the other half thinks.. any feed back cocky b******s!!”

TV star Vicky, who lives in rural Lancashire and has a holiday cottage business, left Corrie back in 2011 after 14 years in the soap as gobby Janice , the wife of Les Battersby (Bruce Jones) and mum of Toyah (Georgia Taylor)and Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson).

Since leaving the cobbles, the soap star has appeared on Celebrity Big Brother, Holby City and Ackley Bridge.

It comes after she admitted that she no longer watches Corrie and hit out “talentless cast”.

However, she said in May this year she may start tuning in again following the decision to bring back the character of eco-warrior Geoffrey David “Spider” Nugent (Martin Hancock).

Vicky, 53, tweeted at the time: “This may just be the best news I have heard in the last 10 years!!

“Bring the Talent back!!! Might start watching now!!”

One fan replied: “Brilliant. Classic Corrie from 70s, 80s, 90s and early 00s was superb.

“Much missed. Needs to get back to being character driven with stories people care about that reflect normal working class lives rather than all this sensationalist stuff.”

Viewers said the soap should also bring back Vicky’s character, her screen hubby Les and binman Curly Watts (Kevin Kennedy).

Another social media said: “Now all Corrie needs to do is bring you back and Bruce as Les and Kevin Kennedy back as Curly and all is well.”

While a third person wrote to the actress: “You’re too honest about the state of the programme to get invited back.

“But many people applaud your honesty rather than a disillusion of the truth.

“It’s gone downhill since the days you were in it.

“You were the end of the Golden Years 2.”

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV at 8pm
