Emmerdale’s Adam Thomas says he doesn’t know why he left ITV soap after eight years

Emmerdale’s Adam Thomas admitted he “doesn’t know why he left the beloved ITV soap after eight years in the Yorkshire Dales.

On Saturday’s visit to The Chase studio, Bradley Walsh welcomed a slew of four new contestants onto the show – but this time there was a celebrity twist.

The former Coronation Street star introduced Brendan Cole, Naga Munchetty, Amanda Byram and Adam Thomas onto the show in an attempt to raise money for their chosen charity.

And the show got off to a great start when the Total Wipeout star managed to add £5,000 to the joint jackpot after beating Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett in the intense one-to-one round.

But the show quickly turned to chaos when the soap star struggled to correctly answer one question in the high-pressure lightening round.

It was at this point that the TV star confessed he “didn’t know why he left” Emmerdale after eight years playing the role of Adam Barton.

Bradders gushed: “It’s a pleasure having you. Now you [were on] Emmerdale for eight, nine, 10 years?”

Adam confessed: “[I was on there for] Eight, nine years – the best years of my life. I don’t know why I left!

“It was amazing. Great people, great show. [It was] Amazing, unbelievable.”

Since he left the show, the TV star revealed that he has since gone on to open a scrumptious restaurant in the heart of Stockport, Manchester.

However, the actor admitted on the show that he doesn’t know the first thing about running an eatery.

Adam confessed to the gameshow host that he has “no idea what he’s doing” working in the restaurant business but explained that he’s “having a blast anyway.”

Unfortunately the Northern lad’s impressive acting skills didn’t match his general knowledge and he was the first contestant to be booted from The Chase.
