A memorial service for the late Queen Elizabeth II has left viewers emotional as mourners sang the new national anthem for the first time.
Her Majesty passed away on Thursday (September 8), Buckingham Palace confirmed in a statement.
It read: said: “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.

“The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”
HRH reigned over the United Kingdom since 1952 and is the country’s longest-serving monarch.
Tributes have since been paid to the monarch from across the world.
At a special memorial service held on Friday (September 9), mourners gathered at St.Paul’s Cathedral to pay tribute to the life and legacy of the iconic royal.
2,000 members of the public attended the 6pm service after securing a limited selection of wristbands, along with Prime Minister Liz Truss.
Millions of others tuned in to a live broadcast of the service that touched the hearts of many.
During the service, Dame Sarah Mullally outlined the Queen’s dedication to her beliefs and to the nations she so diligently served, while a selection of bible readings and hymns were sung to mark her passing.
It was the closure of the memorial that resonated the most with viewers, as the national anthem was sung for the first time as God Save The King.
Several of the assembled members of the public at the service could be seen to appear emotional during the televised broadcast, while countless others took to social media to share their feelings at such a historic moment.
One wrote: “Just heard our new national anthem for the first time. Really hits home that our beloved Queen has passed on. God Save the King.

Another added: “It’s also quite bizarre hearing the national anthem being sung as God Save the King with masculine pronouns. This new Carolean era is going to take some getting used to.”
While a third said: “Hearing our new national anthem felt a bit strange. Not sure how to describe it, but it was a bit complicated and odd as a moment.”
