Rochelle Humes admits Gladiators star did terribly on rival show Ninja Warrior UK

TV hosts Rochelle Humes and Chris Kamara have confessed that a former Gladiator star “didn’t do very well” on the Ninja Warrior UK obstacle course.

The bubbly duo, who present the ITV show alongside Ben Shephard, shared their thoughts on the current series which sees contestants from across the UK compete for the chance to be crowned the fittest Ninja Warrior.

With a similar format style to 90s programme The Gladiators, willing participants who are up for the challenge are faced with an array of obstacle courses, aimed to test their strength and agility.

But while speaking exclusively to Daily Star at a press conference, both Rochelle and Chris said a former Gladiator star did take part in the infamous obstacle course – but unfortunately it didn’t go the way they had expected.

Chris said: “I heard today that Gladiators is coming back. Great iconic show you know back in the day, but we had some gladiators on the Ninja first series and they didn’t do very well.”

Rochelle added: “You’re right I forgot about that, we’ll just leave that there shall we?”

Chris also shared that he believes the Ninja Warrior obstacle course is “a lot harder” than the former Gladiators course to which This Morning star Rochelle agreed while describing it as a “beast”.

Former The Saturdays singer Rochelle also said her friends have asked to take part in the obstacle course but are never available when the time arrives.

The news comes after reports claimed Bradley Walsh and his son Barney could host the new revamped version of Gladiators on BBC.

Speaking to The Sun, a source said: “The BBC love the idea of having a unique duo fronting Gladiators and that’s what hiring a father and son gives them.

“It’s certainly a break from the presenters the show had previously.

“They already know they have a great dynamic, thanks to appearing together on their travelogue, Breaking Dad as well as drama, The Larkins,” the source added.

The revival of The Gladiator was recently confirmed by Kate Phillips, the BBC’s Head of Unscripted who revealed: “Gladiators is back, and a whole new generation of viewers can now look forward to watching a Saturday night spectacle like no other.

“Will the contenders have the will and the skill to succeed against our mighty new Gladiators? You’ll have to tune in to find out!”
