Masked Dancer's Candlestick revealed after tense performance ahead of semi-final

Candlestick has become the seventh act to be axed from The Masked Dancer after judges voted to save Onomatopoeia.

The dancer was unmasked as none other than Liam Charles from Great British Bake Off following a tense showdown that saw judge Jonathan Ross correctly guess his identity.

The 25-year-old baker found fame after coming fifth on season eight of GBBO and has since moved on to host Bake Off: The Professionals and a become a judge on the new Junior Bake Off.

Despite putting on an impressive performance to Finesse by Bruno Mars Liam didn’t quite score high enough with the audience to secure his place in next week’s semi-final.

The decision saw Onomatopoeia progress to the semi-final as they continued to impress the audience and judges Davina McCall, Oti Mabuse, Peter Crouch, as well as Jonathan and returning guest judge Mo Gilligan.

Meanwhile, Pearly King, Odd Socks, Scissors, and Sea Slug all also won a place in the semi-final after the audience voted for their favourites with all of them surviving to compete for a place in the final.

Viewers last week saw David and Frankie Seaman unmasked as Pillar and Post and Steph McGovern as Tomato Sauce in a shock triple elimination.

David and Frankie were forced to quit the competition when she became injured during a backstage training session.

The injury to Frankie’s ankle meant they could no longer dance and compete so had to withdraw.

Prior to that fans have already seen Strictly winner Stacey Dooley be unveiled as Prawn Cocktail, actress Joanna Page revealed, Desperate Housewives hunk Jesse Metcalfe unmasked as Astronaut and Gareth Malone outed as Cactus.

Still to be unmasked are Onomatopoeia, Sea Slug, Scissors, Pearly King and Odd Socks who was saved by the panel last week after being in the bottom two with Tomato Sauce.

The Masked Dancer airs Saturdays at 6.30 pm on ITV and ITV Hub.
