Anne Hegerty 'wont entertain' anyone but Bradley Walsh hosting ITV's The Chase

Anne Hegarty confessed she “won’t entertain” the idea of somebody else other than Bradley Walsh hosting ITV’s The Chase.

Anne, also known as ‘The Governess’, attended the National Television Awards on Thursday (October 13), where she replied, “No, no, no, I can’t hear you,” when quizzed about Bradley’s future on the show.

The ITV star’s reply came off the back of an epic win for the ITV show as its spin-off series, Beat The Chasers, won a gong in the quiz game show category.

In conversation, Anne was hesitant to answer who she thought would be best suited to host the show if Bradley ever stepped down.

She confessed to The Metro: “It’s impossible to imagine. I’ve sometimes had conversations with [fellow chaser] Mark [The Beast] ‘If Bradley leaves, who else do you think could do it?’ And I’m like, ‘No, no, no, I can’t hear you.'”

She added: “I will not entertain that thought. But who knows? I suppose I can think of a couple of people, but it wouldn’t be the same without Brad.”

Anne also confessed that if Bradley, who has hosted the show since it first aired in 2009, were to quit, the remaining Chasers wouldn’t follow in his footsteps.

The former I’m A Celebrity contestant confirmed that she’d “stick around” until the show “got cancelled” or when it stops being commissioned by ITV.

In the show, chasers Mark and Sean Wallace have both been chasers since series one, while Anne joined in series two, Paul Sinha in series four, Jenny Ryan in series nine and Darragh Ennis in series 13.

At this year’s NTA awards in Wembley, Bradley lost out on the prize for the TV presenter to Ant and Dec, who were victorious for the 21st year in a row.

Meanwhile, The Chase lost out on the daytime award to This Morning alongside fellow nominees Loose Women and The Repair Shop.

Jenny Ryan, known as ‘The Vixen’, looked unrecognisable from her Chaser duties at this year’s awards-do.

The quiz champion looked gorgeous as she walked down the red carpet in a rainbow-sequinned gown with a plunging V-neck.
