Pop singer Cher seemingly revealed the news that her mother, Georgia Holt, has died.
Cher, 76, took to Twitter to share brief message to her 4million followers as she simply penned: “Mom is gone,” followed by a frowning emoji.

The tweet prompted thousands of Cher’s fans to respond with supportive messages as her followers shared a mix of responses from memories of Georgia to their favourite photos of the mother and daughter duo.
As sweet messages flooded in, one person wrote: “Sending you nothing but love, light, and healing. She was a firecracker, and she will be so deeply missed.”

Another wrote: “Georgia was an amazing woman she was a trooper had a voice that was amazing.”
While others were sharing their favourite photos of her from many years prior and sharing their condolences.
The news comes months after Cher revealed her mother had been in and out of hospital after she was taken ill with pneumonia.
She had said at the time that her mum was a champ as she tweeted: “C’mon 96 with Pneumonia, she’s a champ,” prompting fans to share their support for them both once again.

Cher’s mum had her own great career after realising her talents in singing, acting and modelling.
She had numerous minor TV and film roles in the 1950s and appeared on multiple TV talk shows and her IMDB puts her in episodes of ’50s classic I Love Lucy, The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet and Jane Wyman presents the Fireside Theatre.
Her most recent TV appearance was in Dear Mom, Love Cher, which was released in 2013 as the documentary shared a rare insight into Cher’s family history.

In the documentary fans got an insight into Holt’s dreams after starting her life in Arkansas and went through six marriages and divorces all while pursuing a career in Hollywood.
While she didn’t become a Hollywood superstar as she had once dreamed, her daughter Cher followed in her footsteps and today boasts an estimated net worth of $360million (£285million).
Georgia is survived by her two daughters, Cher and Georganne LaPiere, and her grandchildren.
