The Chase star Anne Hegerty explained why she hates wearing her The Governess’ costume on the show but claims it’s “not about vanity”.
Anne, who is one of six Chasers on the popular ITV game show, told The Sun that despite her costume being a “decent suit” she finds it uncomfortable and “hideous”.
“Everyone seems to think ‘Okay, well we’ll have her on Celebrity Juice or whatever but she has to wear the costume’ but I’m like ‘you have to ask permission for me to wear the costume, and anyway, I hate it. I do”, Anne revealed.

She continued: “Actually, it’s several hundred pounds worth of Italian tailoring, it’s a decent suit. I mean the arm holes are too tight, and it’s just, you know….hideous.”
Anne went on to reveal that she initially thought she’d be wearing a “nice little navy Chanel trouser suit” which she’d picked out with a producer whilst on a shopping trip.
“I went for a fitting, the stylist took me to a boutique and we tried on things and she took photos and sent them back to the producers”, she started.
“When we came back from shopping the producers said to me ‘Did you enjoy your shopping trip?’, I said ‘Oh yes I think I’m going to have a nice little navy Chanel trouser suit’, she said ‘I think you’re not'”, Anne recalled.
Then she added: “Then I saw what they had chosen and I thought ‘Oh great’ then I saw they had put a belt on it and I was like ‘fine’, but it’s not about vanity here.”
Anne has been a Chaser on the show since the second series of the show. Contestants have the chance of competing against her or one of her co-stars Mark Labbett, Shaun Wallace, Anne Hegerty, Paul Sinha, Jenny Ryan, and Darragh Ennis alongside presenter Bradley Walsh.
