Sheridan Smith 'sick' as she pays tribute to old roommate Paul Cattermole after death

Sheridan Smith has said she has been left feeling “sick” following the shock news of Paul Cattermole’s unexpected death.

The 46-year-old S Club 7 member was found dead at his home in Dorset on Thursday (April 6), with his family breaking the tragic news in a statement on Friday (April 7).

Now, Sheridan, 41, has paid tribute to Paul, who she spent time with at the National Youth Musical Theatre (NYMT) in their earlier years, even living together.

The actress shared a snap of Paul in his younger years, writing: “Devastated beyond words.”

She went on: “We all grew up together in the NYMT then all lived together for years.”

Cilla star Sheridan said that singer Paul was “amazing”, saying: “He was an amazing man and my heart breaks for his friends, family and loved ones.

“Thinking of Han and Neil and his band mates too. Too young. Feel sick.”

Many other famous faces paid tribute to the beloved music star too, including ITV host Lorraine Kelly, Rylan Clark, and former Celebrity Big Brother contestant India Willoughby, who spoke of Paul’s “cheeky smile”.

Paul’s devastated family announced his death in a statement which read: “It is with great sadness that we announced the unexpected passing of our beloved son and brother Paul Cattermole.

“Paul was found yesterday, 6th April 2023 at his home in Dorset and was pronounced dead later that afternoon.

“While the cause of death is currently unknown, Dorset Police has confirmed that there were no suspicious circumstances.

“Paul’s family, friends and fellow members of S Club request privacy at this time.”

The remaining S Club members – Rachel Stevens, Jon Lee, Tina Barrett, Bradley Macintosh, Jo O’Meara and Paul’s ex Hannah Spearritt – also released their own statement.

It said: “We are truly devastated by the passing of our brother Paul.

“There are no words to describe the deep sadness and loss we all feel. We were so lucky to have had him in our lives and are thankful for the amazing memories we have.

“He will be so deeply missed by each and every one of us. We ask that you respect the privacy of his family and of the band at this time.”
