Janice Dickinson once got on the blower to Abbey Clancy and called her a “c**t” just before she was about to go on live TV, it was claimed.
The pair had teamed up for a TV reality show in which Janice took the young Abbey under her wing as she tried to break into the lucrative US modelling scene.
But not long after the series wrapped, it became clear that the on-screen spats weren’t just for the benefit of the cameras, with Abbey publicly labelling Janice as “absolutely insane” and claiming she’d been slapped by her.

Abbey & Janice: Beauty & The Best was originally broadcast in the UK on Living in 2007, when Abbey was just 21.
The six-part show started in Abbey’s home city of Liverpool, and the pair had already clashed by the end of the first episode after Janice had moved Abbey to London before moving her to the US in the second episode.
When the series was shown on the other side of the Pond in early 2008, its name had been changed to give Janice top billing, and the renamed Janice & Abbey appeared on the Oxygen channel.
There were clashes with the pair, but if fans thought any animosity was just an act, they would have been put right when Abbey appeared as a guest on Friday Night With Jonathan Ross in September 2008.
As soon as Abbey arrived on the sofa, Jonathan brought up the show, and he made the observation that Janice seemed to be “quite a handful”.
Abbey made no effort to sugar-coat their relationship, and she immediately agreed with the BBC host by saying: “To say the least.”
She added: “Basically, she was my mentor on how to break it in America as a model.
“It was hard work. When she was good she was amazing, but when she was bad she was bloody awful – horrific.
“She used to slap me across the face. Once you’re comfortable with her, she just flips.”
Jonathan interjected to say: “She sounds slightly insane,” and Abbey replied: “She is. She is absolutely insane.

“She phoned me before your show and gave me a height of abuse down the phone. She’s mad.”
And when Jonathan asked Abbey what Janice said to her during that call, Abbey simply replied: “She called me a ‘see you next Tuesday’.”
A decade and a half on, Abbey is as much a household name over here as Janice is in America, so perhaps the mentoring ultimately paid off.
Whether the pair remain friends, though, is another thing.
