The director of a harrowing new horror film has teased a terrifying turning point in his film that “nearly got shut down”.
Remy Grillo – son of Marvel star Frank Grillo – is making his feature film debut with The Resurrection of Charles Manson, but filming the flick wasn’t easy.
The film follows a couple who head for a weekend away at a remote Airbnb to edit a film they’re making about Charles Manson, but the arrival of a mysterious figure starts to echo the events of their movie.

And the film’s “turning point” is especially chilling, Remy warns.
He said: “Throughout the whole movie, there’s an overwhelming feeling of being watched. Once we hit nighttime, s**t really starts to hit the fan.
“There’s one scene in particular where the main character goes into the warehouse behind the house, and there’s something in the basement. It’s the big turning point of the film.
“It’s no longer this couple at the Airbnb having a nice weekend getaway – there’s something more.”
Numerous obstacles threw themselves in the way of a successful project, however, and at one point things looked so miserable the movie was nearly ended before it began.
Speaking exclusively to Daily Star, Remy confessed: “We had two really big problems. The first, we got shut down for Covid-19. It was the first day of our second week – I got pulled aside by our producers and two very important people in our cast got Covid.
“So we had to shut down for a week. It was March 2021 and [filming regulations] were still really sensitive. We had a really small budget so there’s that worry that it might not even start back up again.”
Luckily filming did start again after a “miserable” week of quarantine.
It was far from the only ordeal Remy had to go through, however.
He added: “The second big obstacle… at the climax of the movie, there’s a big fire scene at night. It was still the end of our winter out here so it was like 30 degrees [Fahrenheit] at night.

“We were shooting all this fire and you have to be really safe because Joshua Tree [a desert in California] can go up in flames at any moment, so we had fire safety teams out there.
“It was about 4am and this giant, 40mph gust of wind came and just shut down all of the fire.”
To make matters worse, the filmmakers were only allowed one day of filming with the fire – and had to renew their permit to allow for another day’s filming.
Remy added: “We also had a crew member quit on us partway through the shoot. He took the key to the equipment truck, so we had no equipment all day.
“We were about three hours away from Los Angeles so it was like, a day gone if that happens.”
