Fans have been left devastated by the tragic death of Carrie star Samantha Weinstein, who was just 28 years old.
Samantha rose to fame as Heather in the 2013 remake of the Stephen King classic, starring alongside Chloë Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore.
She has also starred in everything from Alias Grace to Reign.

But now, Samantha’s death has been confirmed by her family, who announced via Instagram this week that she passed away surrounded by loved ones at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto on May 14.

Their statement read: “After two and a half years of cancer treatment, and a lifetime of jet setting around the world, voicing a plethora of cartoon animals, making music, and knowing more about life than most people ever will, she is off on her next adventure.”
Samantha was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at the age of 25, and revealed that things happened almost overnight.
She became “strangely bloated”, which her roommate reassured her was normal and could be down to ovulation.
But writing on social media about her experience, Samantha confirmed: “I knew I wasn’t pregnant because I was single and celibate, having just left an emotionally abusive relationship four months previously.

“Spoiler alert – it was not ovulation or something.”
Samantha explained she had no family history of cancer, but was soon rushed into hospital for surgery, and spent “four excruciating days” in hospital healing from the op.
She wrote: “When the nurses made me walk on the third day, I dissociated for the first time, looking down at my body from the ceiling. I only knew what was going on because of YouTube (all that binge watching finally paid off!).
“After the surgery, my dad drove me back to my parents’ house to recover.”

Samantha was left walking with a cane and dealing with chronic pain, and was shortly after diagnosed with cancer and began chemotherapy.
Amid her battle, the star was rushed to the intensive care unit with “excruciating chest pains” – but went on to live a full life even with cancer.
She wrote for Love What Matters: “Maybe saying cancer is the best thing that ever happened to me is a bit of a stretch, but it certainly isn’t a witch’s curse either.”
Samantha is survived by her family and her husband Michael Knutson.
