Daran had stated he was “fed up” of being accused of hating gay characters on EastEnders. He wrote: “In my 35-year career in soap I’ve created and supported endless gay characters. Just, back off will you?”
Prompting Max to write: “Quite literally responsible for Ballum’s creation in chemistry with his phenomenal “I smell queer” scene. A terrific writer.”
While people rushed to the comments to state it was a “vocal minority” who were sharing the negative comments, it only prompted Max to share his annoyance even more.
He said: “Also stop tagging actors and writers in abuse and negativity. Our job is to tell the story!!! We work so hard to bring you two hours of content every week.
“Regardless on your view of a character or an episodes work, stop making it known to the people working their arse off for it.”
With one final comment he added: “And also, you just look like a bit of a c**t. xoxox.”
People immediately rushed to the comments to share their support for Max as one user wrote: “Couldn’t have said it better myself. You go Max.”
While another said: “Brilliant. We love you and all the other cast and crew.”
The initial tweet was in reference to a comment which has since been deleted which was aimed at Daran.
He responded to it and wrote: “I don’t hate any character on EastEnders and constantly being accused of hating a gay couple on this platform annoys me immensely as a gay man. If that is your intention congratulations, you’ve achieved your goal.”
Fans have continued to share their support for both Daran and Max as they quickly put the trolls in their place.
