Emmerdale star James Hooten has revealed that his onscreen wife Lydia will not want Dingle justice to rule following Craig Reed’s death.
The soap star, who is best known for playing the role of Sam Dingle in the long-running drama, gave further insight into the scenes involving businessman Craig’s tragic fall from grace. Earlier this month, Lydia confessed that Craig had raped her.
But although Lydia was longing for some sort of relief from her pain, she didn’t want her family members to do something they may live to regret as she questioned them all intensely on their involvement in Craig’s demise. Talking exclusively to Daily Star and other associated press, James said: “He always wants the best for his wife he obviously loves his wife beyond belief and is extremely loyal to a fault almost.

“He doesn’t always follow the request that she’s given him because Lydia was quite clear that she didn’t want Dingle law, mob law to rule and get our own revenge on Craig. So she’s very clear on that. So it’s a dilemma as to whether Sam goes beyond that request or not,” he explained.
As it is now revealed that Craig ended up dead at the hands of Kim Tate, James was also asked whether his character is likely to commit murder if he’s driven to it. Talking candidly, the actor who joined the ITV soap in 1995, said there will be a question mark on whether Sam and Lydia can recover from their heartbreak, as they try to cope with the aftermath of Craig’s death.
“Speaking hypothetically because we don’t know if he’s a killer or not, it’s very difficult to say,” James said. But he does say that Sam and Lydia will be changed.
“I think anyone in real life would be ultimately changed on some level from an ordeal such as this,” James commented. God forbid anyone ever has to go through those circumstances. Given the nature of the death of the individual concerned and everything that happens that we can’t talk about, there’s also a question mark over whether Sam and Lydia can get back to a sense of normality.
“We hope that their bond and strength as a couple is enough for that to happen over time.” He explained.
Cain Dingle and Sam both took matters into their own hands by kidnapping Craig and torturing Craig. However, it was recently revealed that when Kim saw Craig’s bloodied body while riding her horse, she allowed the horse to trample on his face.
