Hollywood megastar’s son shuns spotlight and has very different career from dad

The son of a Hollywood megastar has chosen a much different career path that to that of his Tinsel town dad, it appears.

For Ben Ford has never been tempted to follow in the footsteps of Harrison Ford, instead opting for the much more humble surroundings of his restaurant. Harrison is one of the most recognisable faces in the acting industry, and is known best for his role of Indiana Jones in the franchise’s five hit movies.

Ben, however, is much more at home in the kitchen, working as a chef in his native California. One of five siblings (one of whom was adopted), he was born to Harrison and his ex-wife, Mary Marquardt in the late 1960s.

Now, having made a name for himself in fine-dining, he is the executive chef and co-owner of Ford’s Filling Station in Culver City. And in 2014 he even penned his own cookbook, Taming the Feast.

Ben boasts 15,000 followers on his Instagram account, where he regularly shares snaps of his delicacies as well as advice for budding cooks. Earlier this week he posted a “hack” video, in which he could be seen showing his followers a trick in how to remove the shell of a hardboiled egg.

Ben, along with wife, Emily has two sons himself – Waylon and Ethan. His brother, Willard, meanwhile – his only full sibling – is the co-owner of Ludwig Clothing Company.

Elsewhere in the family, half-siblings Georgia and Malcolm have both embarked on careers in the entertainment industry, working as an actress and musician respectively. Harrison later married Calista Flockhart, with the pair adopting their son Liam to complete their offspring.

It followed their 2010 marriage after eight years of dating. The married couple originally met at the Golden Globes ceremony in 2002, before Harrison proposed seven years later.

Discussing their marriage with Hello!, he explained: “Romantic love is one of the most exciting, and fulfilling kinds of love, and I think there is a potential for it at any stage of your life. I was not surprised that I was able to fall in love, and I wasn’t surprised that I did. I’m in love.”

Calista became a household name in the 1990s as she starred as the title character in the legal sitcom, Ally McBeal.
