Hollyoaks boss Hannah Cheers has teased what fans can expect in 2024.
It has been confirmed that an upcoming multi-vehicle collision is set to turn worlds upside down and things will never be the same for some residents.
The epic crash will see at least one death of a fan favourite and Hollyoaks co-executive producer Hannah Cheers has let slip what drama is set to unfold in the fictional village including the return of some very familiar faces.

She told Daily Star and other press: “The year ahead will see a lot more firsts as we continue to tell more issue based storylines which we really look forward to sharing later in the year. Excitingly, we will also have some welcome familiarity in the returns of some much-loved characters.

“We really decided to invest in our upcoming hour-long special that kick starts the year ahead and the fallout of which will see secrets in abundance and stories that throws forward and produces ripple effect throughout the village for a long time to come.

The epic car crash, which will see four vehicles colliding, takes centre stage during the upcoming hour-long episode which focuses on Mercedes McQueen’s (Jennifer Metcalfe) wedding to Felix Westwood (Richard Blackwood) and Sienna Blake’s (Anna Passey) tying the knot with Rafe Harcourt (Chris Gordon).

Hannah revealed: “The stunt was filmed in freezing cold November weather. It’s Sienna and Mercedes wedding days but tragedy strikes on the journeys and there’s fallout which will shape the futures of our biggest characters for the next year. Working on this show is a privilege for all of us and we know that Hollyoaks still helps shape conversations between generations and we also know that soap is at its best when it makes you feel something. Hollyoaks has a unique ability to make you feel. Huge range of emotions.

“Whilst we knew there had to be a spectacle, we had to focus on reality. Soap is about everyday lives so staging a multi-vehicle collision allowed us the oppotunity to explore a number of peoples lives derailed in a specific singular moment and explore what they were doing the moments before and how it effects their lives afterwards.”
Hollyoaks airs weeknights on E4 at 7pm or fans can watch episodes online first on the Channel 4 website
