Hollyoaks ‘chaos’ confirmed as Channel 4 soap legend teases ‘exciting year ahead’

Hollyoaks star Ashley Taylor Dawson has teased an “exciting year head” for his character Darren Osborne following the arrival of his twin children Frankie ( Isabelle Smith) and Jack Jr (Ryan Mulvey).

The villager was floored in recent scenes of the Channel 4 soap after learning that his son and daughter were back in Hollyoak after the dynamic duo clashed with Darren’s wife and Hollyoaks High deputy head Nancy Osborne (Jessica Fox) on their taster day at school.

After making distasteful remarks while standing near a memorial for Ella Richardson, who recently died following a devastating car crash, Darren confronted Frankie and Jack Jr and was later left gobsmacked when his ex Hannah Ashworth (Emma Rigby) appeared out of nowhere and revealed the teenagers were his children.

Opening up about what’s next for Darren, Ashley told Daily Star: “It’s been very busy, very chaotic but it’s been good having the nostalgia of it all and having certain characters come back. I think there’s enough history there to pull from so it’s going to be a lot of fun.”

Nancy has recently returned to Hollyoaks after a trip to America to seek medical treatment for their daughter Morgan but there’s no chance of a romantic reunion as more familiar faces are set to arrive in the village in the shape of Suzanne Ashworth (Suzanne Hall) and Freddie Roscoe (Charlie Clapham).

Ashley continued: “For Darren, Nancy coming back is a breath of fresh air but sadly it’s completely distorted straight away with his son and daughter turning up so it’s out of a frying pan into the fire sort of thing and there’s no time to settle and no time to rejoice at being a family unit again because there’s chaos straight away.

JJ and Frankie made their surprise arrival in recent scenes

“Darren finds himself straight in the thick of it dealing with new issues, which weren’t even there before, but it’s great having the nostalgia of characters coming back with Hannah and Suzanne Ashworth, so there’s a lot going on and its great, and Freddie Roscoe [Darren’s half-brother] turns up out of the blue so it’s a very exciting year ahead.”

Hollyoaks spoilers have teased that Darren tries to bond with Frankie and Jack Jr but Ashley says there’s a lot of tension between the father and children. He said: “There’s a lot of animosity with the twins because they’ve had a father who hasn’t been there for them and through different tales being told Darren thought it was a good idea staying out of their lives and he tries to fix those bridges with Nancy and Suzanne there so it’s going to be fun.”

Hollyoaks airs weeknights on E4 at 7pm followed by first-look episodes on Channel 4 streaming at 7.30pm
