Below Deck’s Hayley fled to toilet in panic amid ‘non stop’ first day breakdown

Below Deck’s Hayley De Sola Pinto once hid in the toilet during a tough shift and considered “jumping overboard”.

The redhead spoke to Daily Star about her first few days on deck and admitted she got seriously overwhelmed. She explained: “The next day was also a very long day because we picked up the charter guests. I remember on day two, I was hiding in the toilet for about five minutes, ringing people and being like: ‘I can’t do this, I cannot do this, I don’t know who I think I am!”

“I was sh***ing myself! I swear to god, on this boat, I saw all the cameras and I was like: ‘Oh my god, this is happening!’ All I’d been thinking about for the four months before. I was so overwhelmed.”

By the time the second day rolled around, Hayley was considering throwing in the towel. She said: “Day two, I was seriously considering jumping ship, quite literally!” Ahead of her stint on the show, Hayley had only spent short amounts of time on board boats and underestimated the demands of her new Below Deck role.

“I was definitely rusty, but even before when I had worked on the boats, I’d only done temporary work. Stewing work, not seasons, not four to five months straight. It was three weeks, two weeks, one week. So actually, I didn’t have a lot of experience in housekeeping, laundry, I was always just service so that’s why I didn’t shine in that department.”

Hayley and co-star Fraser made friends quickly

Throughout her time on the show, Hayley bonded with Chief Stew Fraser and the star praised him for “teaching her so much” as a “great stew”. She recalled: “The first person I saw was Fraser and I’d seen him in the season before, I’d guessed he was going to be my Chief Stew.”

“The day started and it was non stop. Honestly, the first day, we worked 18 hours. I felt like I’d been put in a washing machine! I’d forgotten everything I’d ever known and there was this camera crew following us around, it was incredibly intense.”
