Viewers of The Chase reacted in shock during Tuesday’s episode of the ITV show after host Bradley Walsh made a shock admission about his TV viewing habits.
The latest installment saw contestants Ashley, Ian, Elaine and Dave go head-to-head with Chaser Jenny ‘The Vixen’ Ryan in a bid to land a share of the day’s jackpot. It was during Elaine’s cash-builder round questions, meanwhile, that 63-year old Bradley caused a stir on social media.
First, he asked: “In the Simpsons, which character was due to study at Harvard University before he discovered beer the day before his tests?” Elaine, a nurse from Ireland working in Wales was subsequently given the options of Moe Szyslak, Kirk Van Houten and Barney Gumble.

After she, and Chaser Jenny both gave the correct answer of Springfield’s town-drunk, Barney, Bradley simply exclaimed: “Never seen it.”
Fans soon took to X (formerly Twitter) to react to Brad’s confession about the cartoon sitcom – which first aired in 1989 and went on to become the longest-running and most watched animated show in television history. One user wrote: “Fail to believe Bradley has never seen The Simpsons… even if he tells us he hasn’t every time there is a question about them. Did he never watch even 10 minutes with Barney? #thechase.”
Another asked: “Hold up Bradley – never seen it?!? The Simpsons? HOW #TheChase.” A third joked: “There’s a £20k reward for anyone who can take a photo of Bradley watching The Simpsons… #TheChase.” A fourth seemed less surprised, however, adding: “And a Brad’s not seen the Simpsons. What else is new? #TheChase.”
Tuesday’s episode concluded with marketing manager Ashley facing off against Jenny alone, in a battle that proved unsuccessful. Back in October an episode of the show featured contestants named Marge, Maggie, Lisa and Bart – four of the five members of the Simpsons household (missing Homer).
Bradley soon picked up on the odd coincidence, joking that he had “The Simpsons on the show”, and viewers were left wondering whether it was an accident. “Are these the contestants real names?” one fan pondered on X.
