Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway fans ‘gutted’ as they complain minutes into final series

Saturday Night Takeaway fans were quick to complain as Ant and Dec’s beloved show returned with its final series on ITV.

The beloved show is back for one last time before they retire it for the foreseeable future to spend more time with their families. But fans were left “gutted” as the show came back on Saturday (February 24) as they wanted the show to continue.

One saddened fan said on X: “I can’t believe that this is the final series of Saturday Night Takeaway I’m gonna miss it I wonder what Ant and Dec have up their sleeves for us next #SaturdayNightTakeaway.” Another added: “#SaturdayNightTakeaway aww is it really the last series?”.

During the first episode of the 20th series, Britain’s Got Talent judge Simon Cowell was pranked by the Geordie duo. He was pulled over by officers while riding his bike and had no idea he was being toyed with.

It also saw appearances from comedian Stephen Merchant, singer Becky Hill and Ant and Dec’s pal Stephen Mulhern. Ant and Dec previously revealed why they chose to put the show on pause after the current series.

Speaking to Fault magazine, Ant disclosed: “Part of the reason we’re pausing Takeaway is we need a break ourselves, and we need to spend some time with our family.

“We’ve both got children that we need to spend time with for a little bit. We need time to think and step back and look at the bigger picture and just see where we are now.

“Like I say, we’re turning 49, and what do we want to do next? What’s the next phase of our career?” he continued, “And we’ve got lots of ideas and lots of offers on the table, lots of options of things we can do. But it’s working on what we do next and where the next chapter begins.

“So that’s what we’re gonna do when SNT is out of the way. We’ll sit down, take a bit of time, and re-evaluate everything.”
