90 Day Fiancé stars in rush to get married as sex ban can’t be lifted until then

90 Day Fiancé UK stars Nicole and Taher are desperate to tie the knot – because they’re not allowed to have sex until they’re married.

The pair met while Nicole was on holiday in Egypt, where Taher worked as a waiter. But with Taher coming from a Muslim background, the pair have had plenty of cultural differences to overcome – meaning a lot of compromising.

Now they’ve opened up exclusively with Daily Star about the sex ban placed on unwed couples in Egyptian culture, with Taher confessing: “To be honest in Egypt it’s different; the culture is very, very different. In Egypt we marry quick – we know each other, we get engaged, and we still can’t do any sex together or anything like that, but we can marry.

“When I’m comfortable with this person and they’re comfortable with me, we’re ready for marriage. I felt the same feeling with any Egyptian woman or any British woman – she’s my lovely woman.”

As for Nicole, she’s had to adapt to a more modest dress style while meeting her beau’s parents, explaining: “I love having a modest style. Whenever I’d go out to Egypt, my mum and dad would say to me, ‘Let’s go shopping, we need to get you a nice modest dress so you’ll look nice and respectful to meet Taher’s family’.

“It was nice that my family were very supportive of me, but I just go with it really. In England we have a different style over here compared to Egypt so it’s just a matter of adapting it to be more respectful when you’re out. But I’ve always had a modest style – so it’s just compromising.”

And the pair have proven successful at navigating conflict together. Nicole said: “With both of us, we just talk to each other. We have great communication – you’re naturally going to have differences because we’re both from different countries, so you can’t avoid that.”

Taher added: “We understand each other. If I respect her – her religion, her culture, our relationship will be stronger. And she respects me as well.” But their biggest obstacle is explored in the upcoming Discovery+ series – navigating where they’ll settle down after tying the knot.

Nicole explained: “I’d say our biggest obstacle is planning where to live. That’s definitely the hardest because who wants to leave where they’re from and leave their life?”
