“I ran the London marathon last year for Royal Marsden and I just think being outdoors, walking or running is the best way to clear your mind. Britain has so many great running groups, which I mention in the audio series, for example, the Parkrun movement, which is fully inclusive, has exploded in popularity over recent years, it’s a great way for anyone to get into running and there are so many parks that do it now.”

She continued: “I think it’s just about looking after yourself and making sure you do things that make you feel good. I try to eat well and have always been active and have enjoyed participating in sports, but I also know what a positive impact watching sport – whether its amateurs to pros – has on your mental wellbeing. There’s something incredibly inspiring about being around live sport whether that’s at the venues or in the local areas.”

She left GB News due to the symptoms

This comes after Kirsty was told she had a benign acoustic neuroma, which is a tumour located in the inner canal of her right ear. The presenter also gave us a health update and said: “The tumour is a benign acoustic neuroma which they don’t really know how they are caused.

“I am in close contact with my consultant and recently it was great to hear that it hasn’t grown so I can put off treatment. Eventually, I may need treatment to shrink it but with these things, you never know it could shrink itself!

“My hearing is slightly compromised in that ear and it causes low-level tinnitus which can disrupt my sleep but I’ve learnt to live with it and I’m used to it.”

This comes as Kirsty has teamed up with National Rail to create a new audio series to inspire trips by train to some of Britain’s fantastic sporting locations. Speaking about this, Kirsty said: “I’ve grown up around sport so helping people experience it in real life is something I’m really passionate about – whether it’s going to a game, visiting a sports museum or even trying it out for yourself.

“Amidst the summer of sport I really want to inspire people to watch, learn about and discover new sporting passions by train so they don’t miss out on the wellbeing benefits that experiencing sports in the real world has to offer. Because when it comes to sport nothing beats being there.”
