Cameron Diaz’s 10-year acting break – and why she come out of retirement

Cameron Diaz was one of the most sought-after movie stars in the 1990s and 2000s.

On her roster, she has huge titles such as The Mask, Charlie’s Angels and voicing Fiona in the Shrek franchise. Alongside starring in huge comedy films such as There’s Something About Mary, What Happens in Vegas, and Bad Teacher.

However, Cameron, 52, took a 10-year acting break away from the industry in 2014 so she could focus on her family. The Hollywood actress wanted to focus on raising her children – but she also didn’t enjoy the lifestyle anymore.

Jamie Foxx enticed Cameron back into the movie world and recalled thinking about how to pitch the movie to her. He told Huff Post: “Cameron is such an incredible force and she has done so much in this business. We love her. We had to be very innovative in how we, you know, brought her back.”

According to the famous actor, he simply asked her: “‘Do you wanna have some fun? Just have some fun!’ And I think that’s what brought her to it.”

However, last year there were rumours circling that he almost made her ‘quit’ acting again due to his alleged chaotic behaviour on set. At the time, a source claimed that Jamie had an “absolute meltdown” and fired an executive producer, two directors, and his driver.

According to reports, this sent Cameron over the edge as she “hates drama and confrontation.” But Cameron was furious with this negative press about her pal Jamie and set the record straight herself.

During a guest appearance on Molly Sims’ Lipstick on the Rim podcast, Cameron said: “I really hate all of the things that were being said about our set at the time. You just want to scream at the top of your lungs, like, ‘What are you talking about?’

“Jamie is, like, the cheerleader for the entire crew. Everybody loves him. We have so much fun on the set with him, and he’s just a professional on every level. Jamie is the best. I love that guy so much. He’s such a special person and he’s so talented, so much fun.”
