Jon Richardson’s ex and co-star Lucy Beaumont’s breaks ‘weird’ silence after divorce

Comedienne Lucy Beaumont has broken her silence on her split with Channel 4 star Jon Richardson.

The couple parted ways in April after nine years together and announced their split in a joint statement on social media. However, Lucy has shared an insight into how she has been feeling in a recent interview.

When asked about her current feelings to OK!, Lucy politely declined to comment further but said: “People might think I should talk about it because we were so public and everyone knew us as a couple, but I won’t, and not because there’s any animosity.

“We both agreed that while it might be weird for other people not hearing anything about it, we wouldn’t talk about anything to do with the marriage or each other.”

Hull’s funny lass Lucy, famed for her bold northern humour and no-filter comedy, has made a name for herself far beyond being the “small, feral woman” she jokingly claims to be.

For over ten years, she lit up screens as part of the comedic duo with her now-ex hubby Jon Richardson in the smash-hit Dave show Meet The Richardsons – which she also had a hand in writing – and the C4 show Jon and Lucy’s Odd Couples.

But hold the phone, because as of April, she’s flying solo both professionally and in her personal life – and she’s taking the comedy world by storm. She’s diving headfirst into her own projects, including chatting away on a podcast with her old Taskmaster rival and kicking off her very own live tour.

As she has just turned 41, she revealed she doesn’t “feel any different really, just a bit angrier and not willing to take any s**t from anyone,” she told OK! Though she may seem like the fresh face on the block, Lucy’s been cracking jokes for yonks. With a decade since her nod for Best Newcomer at the Edinburgh Fringe festival and a cool dozen since clinching the BBC New Comedy Award, this isn’t her first rodeo.

Yet it’s her BAFTA-winningrole in the pseudo-reality Meet The Richardsons that’s really thrown her into the limelight. “Meet The Richardsons really changed things for me,” she reveals to OK! during a break from her tour. “That’s when I really noticed a change.”

Despite her success on the small screen, it’s evident that her true passion lies in stand-up comedy. “Live shows are unbeatable, there’s nothing like it because it’s so immediate. And each show is totally different.

“You can sort of get the same reaction because they’re well bedded-in shows, but each audience has a different personality it’s mad, and really fascinating. You can say something off hand and it can be the best gag of the show you just don’t get that with TV!”
