Meghan Markle Suits co-star extends exciting invitation to Duchess

Former Suits star Sarah Rafferty has revealed that her royal co-star Meghan Markle is welcome to feature on the new podcast fans are raving about.

The 51-year-old starred opposite the Duchess of Sussex, Patrick J. Adams, Gabriel Macht, Rick Hoffman, and Gina Torres in the office-based USA drama. Airing from 2011-2019, Sarah and the Duchess played friendly colleagues Donna and Rachel.

Five years after the hit series ended, co-stars Patrick and Sarah announced the launch of their series-themed podcast named ‘Sidebar: A Suits Watch Podcast’. The first episode finally dropped on September 24, and now the actress has shared that the Duchess of Sussex is welcome for a guest appearance.

When asked if the Duchess had been invited to the show, by Entertainment Weekly, she candidly admitted, “Everybody’s invited, and everybody has been so supportive.”

She continued: “It’s amazing. I’ve just been texting one of our directors, Mike Smith, Rachael Harris had some comments on our Instagram Live this morning, cannot wait for Sheila Sazs to be introduced into the show. I can’t wait to talk to Max Beesley and all the British actors that we had.”

This comes after the Duchess was missing from the cast reunion earlier this year. Following a record-breaking run on Netflix’s charts in 2023, the Suits actors attended the Golden Globe Awards together, in January 2024. The Duchess was notably absent from the line-up.

Sarah’s co-host Patrick, who played the Duchess’ love interest, later admitted that he has ‘zero communication’ with her. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Gabriel and Patrick were asked if they had been in contact with the Duchess.

Gabriel said: “I have not communicated with her other than seeing her big support for the resurgence, and that has been really nice.”

Patrick chimed in, saying: “Zero. No, no communication.”

Elsewhere in the chat, Sarah shared how the podcast came to be. She revealed that Patrick had been talking to her about rewatching the nine-season series and recording their reviews for a podcast during the pandemic. Then when the Hollywood strikes started, the pair “sped up our conversation around it.”

With only two episodes out, fans are already raving about the podcast, awarding it five-star ratings on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
