Liam Payne’s “erratic” behaviour escalated when his girlfriend Kate Cassidy left Buenos Aires, a source has claimed.
Former One Direction star Liam died aged 31 on October 16 after falling from the third floor of the CasaSur Palmero Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. There had been reports that he was acting “erratically” in the hotel lobby in the hours before his death, and a hotel employee had also called 911 saying a hotel guest was “off his head on drugs and alcohol”. What appeared to be drug paraphernalia was later found in his room.
Kate was in Argentina with the star but left in the days before he died. According to People magazine, a source said to be close to her has said Liam’s “erratic behaviour started ramping up” when she left. “Like you could see from the Snapchat videos, he was a different person around her,” the insider said.

Kate and Liam – who had been romantically linked since 2022 – spent several days together in Argentina. However, she flew back to the US early.

She documented her journey back in a TikTok in which she explained that the trip had turned out to be longer than expected and that she was keen to get home to the US.
She said: “I was so ready to leave. Honestly, love South America but I hate staying in one place for too long.”
“We were supposed to be there for like, five days,” Kate went on. “Turned into two weeks and I was just like, ‘I need to go home’.”

There has been much speculation about Liam’s death and investigations into what happened have been ongoing. Almost two weeks after he died, it has been reported that his balcony fall was caught on CCTV.
Argentinian broadcast journalist Paula Varela claimed that the star’s actual fall was caught on camera. She said that the footage shows that the singer “fainted” on the balcony and then fell.

Speaking on the Argentinian TV show Socios del Espectaculo, she said: “There is footage that is not being released to the media with the balcony scene where you see that Liam faints and tragically, because of where he is, falls from that balcony.
“If he had been beside his bed he would have fallen on his bed,” added the journalist.
