Major Liam Payne death update as ‘three people arrested’ following raids

Police have reportedly arrested three people in connection to Liam Payne’s death.

Almost a month on from the One Direction star’s tragic death, investigators are said to have detained three people of interest. The pop star was staying at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina when he fell to his death from a third floor balcony.

According to ABC World News, among the detainees are two people who worked at the hotel. David Muir told the news outlet: “Police detained two hotel workers accused of supplying the drugs and raided the home of a friend, also detained.”

TMZ reported that law enforcement sources told the news outlet that raids were conducted on Tuesday [5 November]. TMZ also reported that officers searched the lockers of the hotel workers and watched security footage from the hotel.

A source who claimed to be a close friend of Liam’s alleged to Daily Mail: “There were two guys at the hotel that were giving Liam drugs. They sent taxis out to collect packages for him.”

Following a post-mortem examination of the One Direction singer’s body, it was determined that his cause of death was due to head injuries sustained from the balcony fall.

Payne’s body was recently returned to the UK on the “most tracked plane in the world,” which landed in Heathrow. A service is expected to take place and fans of the singer have put out a warning ahead of the event.

Many have taken to X/Twitter to try and deter anyone planning to make their way to his funeral on the day. One person tweeted: “Friendly reminder, don’t go to Liam Payne’s funeral. Let the family and friends mourn in peace.”

Another added: “Oh god, please don’t go to Liam Payne’s funeral guys. I can’t believe people are actually considering it. It’s the worst thing you could do for his family and the boys. Extremely disrespectful. Please grieve like the rest of us, from a respectful distance.”

One furious fan pleaded: “Please don’t go to #LiamPayne funeral…we are all fans I know…but a funeral is for his family and close friends to say goodbye to him!!!”
