Bradley Walsh, a telly favourite, has been at the heart of The Chase since 2009, encouraging contestants to outsmart the brainy Chasers for a hefty cash reward.

Now a former quizzer named Alexander has spilled the tea on Twitter about what goes down behind the scenes of the hit ITV show and even offered to answer any questions from fans.

When quizzed about why contestants always seem so happy with their day on the show, Alexander revealed that it’s all pretty chill behind the camera.

He tweeted: “The crew is super friendly, and it’s surprisingly quite a relaxed environment. You get a lot of time to get to know your team.

“The studio is well furnished, and you get free tea/coffee all day, which is a nice extra. Going down to London, filming for TV, and meeting someone like Bradley and the Chasers is also a very novel experience.”

Alexander also revealed that the show makes sure the contestants are fed, giving them a £15 lunch budget. He joked about bagging a £3 ‘profit’ since he only spent £12 on food.

He also lifted the lid on how the show’s production is run smoothly, allowing them to film three episodes each day.

Due to the jam-packed schedule, the contestants didn’t have much time with host Bradley Walsh. Still, Alexander shared that Bradley a nice guy off-camera too, saying: “He [Bradley] was just as nice in real life. What surprised me is that he swore a bit, and they just edited that out. The joking around is pretty much nonstop, and it’s a chill atmosphere.”

Although Alexander had fun on The Chase, viewers were miffed annoyed when the episode aired and all four participants got caught by Chaser Darragh ‘The Menace’ Ennis. A few viewers complained that they weren’t getting the best contestants.

One fan said on X: “Ffs – another low offer … This show is going downhill fast. The producers need to sort it out and fast … it’s losing its appeal.” Another added: “I do wish the producers of #TheChase would choose more competent players. Make it better TV.”

Alexander stepped up in the final chase for a last-gasp grab at £4,000, but unfortunately he got caught as well, making it a rare episode where no contestants won any cash.
