Plan B co-presidents Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner spoke to Deadline about the idea and revealed that they are speaking about the “next iteration” with director Philip Barantini.

Gardner said that Plan B are thinking about how they can “widen the aperture, stay true to [the show’s] DNA [and] not be repetitive”. However, she did not reveal any further details about specific plans for the potential upcoming project.

Plan B are keen to bring together series co-creator Stephen Graham and writer Jack Thorne for a second time. Fans of the Netflix show will no doubt be excited to hear the news as Adolescence has quickly become one of the streamer’s most talked-about shows.

The series was released on 13 March and follows a 13-year-old boy, played by Owen Cooper, who is accused of fatally stabbing one of his female classmates after he was radicalised by “manosphere” content on the internet.

The four-part series has been praised by many for bringing attention to the possible impact of controversial male influencers such as Andrew Tate.

Prime Minister Kier Starmer recently held a roundtable with the writers and producers of the show, branding their work as “groundbreaking”.

He said: “As a father, watching this show with my teenage son and daughter, I can tell you – it hit home hard. It’s an important initiative to encourage as many pupils as possible to watch the show.”

Starmer highlighted the importance of talking “openly” with children and “exploring conversations they’re having with their peers is vital” if adults are to “properly support them” while “navigating contemporary challenges”.

The politician continued: “This isn’t a challenge politicians can simply legislate for. Believe me, if I could pull a lever to solve it, I would. Only by listening and learning from the experiences of young people and charities can we tackle the issues this groundbreaking show raises.”

Starmer has also confirmed that Adolescence will be made available to all secondary schools in the UK. The news was also posted on Netflix’s official X/Twitter account with a statement that read: “NEW: From today we are making Adolescence available to all secondary schools across the UK through Into Film+.”

“Additionally, healthy relationships charity Tender will produce guides and resources for teachers, parents and carers to help navigate conversations around the series.”

Fans of the show were over the moon to hear that the hard-hitting drama will be shown in schools and many replied to the tweet to share praise for the decision.

Someone wrote: “This was a superb series. The boy actor was superb playing vulnerable and unhinged flawlessly.”

Another added: “Brilliant news. Really hope that parents of young boys are having these difficult conversations with them about what they engage with online. This isn’t anti-men, it’s pro women safety. Well done Netflix!”
