Gary Lineker has reportedly been asked to join television cooking programmes and some reality TV shows, but the football legend has respectfully declined, due to one hilarious reason
Match of the Day host Gary Lineker says he has been asked to star in TV cookery shows.
The ex-Spurs and England ace is a food fanatic and reckons he’s a whizz in the kitchen.
But he said he still turned down the bids because despite his culinary skills he’s “not Gordon f***ing Ramsay”.
Gary, 64, revealed: “I’d like to tell you I’m a very good cook. I’m pretty good.
“I’ve been doing it for 10 years now, and I’m obsessive.
“So if I do something and I realise I’m reasonably good at it, I’ll throw my heart and soul at it.
“I’ve actually been offered to do cookery programmes, but I don’t want to, because while I’m a very keen cook and I think I’m a good cook, I’m not Gordon f***ing Ramsay.”
The television presenter has also turned down an approach from Celebrity Big Brother.
He told his agent to tell them he might consider it for a fee of £100 million.
Gary grinned: “They said it was a little over their budget.
“Actually I wouldn’t have done it for £100 million either.”
The Golden Boot winner believes he is at the peak of his powers as a TV host.
But despite that boast he admitted he still reckons it’s the right time to quit Match of the Day this month.
He said: “I think I’m a better presenter now than I’ve ever been.
“I know everything that can go wrong, and everything that can go right. Which is a good time to go.
“There wasn’t a great desire to give me another three-year contract.”
