Coronavirus disrupts Holby City filming as fans spot 'last minute' scene blunder

Holby City fans spotted a filming blunder in tonight’s installment of the medical drama, as coronavirus caused “last minute” filming disruptions.

Coronavirus was mentioned for the first time in the show tonight, and it sparked speculation between viewers due to the filming schedule of Holby City.

Fans were certain that the mention of the virus must have been a last-minute addition to the storyline due to the fact that scenes are shot in advance.

They flooded Twitter, convinced they’d worked out the behind-the-scenes filming addition.

One said: “Ooh coronavirus mention. Specially created scene?”

A third tweeted: “Wow coronavirus mention. Was this scene slotted in last minute?”

While a fifth typed: “Wow a reference to coronavirus! I’m impressed Holby City seeing as you film four months in advance!”

Holby City isn’t the only soap to address coronavirus fears as it’s been reported handshaking has been banned on the sets of Coronation Street and Emmerdale.

ITV bosses are said to have decided to ban shaking hands in a bid to prevent the disease from spreading after fears have arisen in the UK.

A source told The Sun Online: “There’s hand sanitizer everywhere and signs up telling people not to shake hands, and to wash them regularly.”

Holby City continues on Tuesday at 8pm on BBC1
