The Chase Paul Sinha heartbreak as quiz teammate dies of coronavirus

The Chase’s Paul Sinha has revealed one of his close friends and fellow quizzers has died from the coronavirus.

Sharing a heartfelt tribute on Twitter, he paid his respects to his pal Jon Jacob, who he described as the “greatest classical musical quizzer ever”.

The 49-year-old posted the now-deleted throwback snap of himself alongside Jon, who passed away after contracting the bug.

He wrote: “Woken up to the news that Jon Jacob, my friend and quiz teammate for the last decade, has succumbed to corona.

“Farewell mate, we smashed Sunday afternoons. And you’ll always be the Greatest Classical Music Quizzer ever. (second from left).”

Just days earlier, Paul, who is known as The Sinnerman on the hit ITV show, admitted he was feeling under the weather.

“Although I can’t be sure and I can’t be tested it seems likely I have Coronavirus,” he wrote.

“Started social distancing a few days too late. Anyone upsets me; I’ll be around to sneeze in your home.”

He later followed up his initial tweet by dicsusing his symtoms, stating he’s been “exhausted”.

“Btw, as you can imagine I’ve had a lot of mates. medics or otherwise, in contact,” he began.

“It seems that loads of us may have had it in the last few weeks, but the range of symptoms is very variable. The suspicious symptom, for me, is the exhaustion. New territory.”

Fans quickly inundated the chaser, wishing him a speedy recovery.

One said: “Stay safe dude. When I get onto The Chase you’re the one I want to go up against!”

“Get well soon bud. Thinking of you,” another wrote.
