Mariah Carey to Honor First Responders at Joel Osteen's Easter Sunday Service Amid Covid-19 Crisis

    Instagram

The ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ hitmaker is going to dedicate her performance to the medical workers and frontliners amid the coronavirus pandemic.
    Apr 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – Mariah Carey will dedicate her “Hero” classic to first responders in the coronavirus pandemic as part of U.S. televangelist Joel Osteen’s virtual Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020 service.
The R&B icon will virtually join rapper Kanye West and actor/director Tyler Perry for Osteen’s remote holiday worship, which will be livestreamed from his Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas, and the preacher reveals Mariah personally reached out to offer up her talents.
“I’ve known Mariah from years past and she wanted to do something to honour the first responders,” Osteen told syndicated columnist Allison Kugel.
“She called and asked if we could do something together, and of course I thought it would be great. She wants to sing her song, Hero, which she’ll do from her apartment in New York. We’ll put footage of the first responders (onscreen) over her song.”
“She has a real heart to say thank you to people,” he gushed, “and so we thought it would work with our other segments. She’s an amazing lady, too, so it just kind of fell into place.”
A pre-recorded message from Perry will also air during the service, which Osteen hopes will help to boost his congregation’s spirits.
“He’s spoken here at Lakewood Church before, and people love him,” the 57 year old explained. “I just kind of wanted something special this Easter season, during these times that are so uncertain. So, he made us a five-minute video. He’s very warm and inspiring.”
And Osteen’s new pal Kanye will also play a key part in the online religious gathering, providing music for the big event from his home in Los Angeles – although the pastor isn’t sure yet what the segment will entail.
He shared, “Kanye West texted me just a few days ago and said, ‘What are you all doing for Easter?’ I asked him if he wanted to do something together, and he said, ‘Yes, I would like to get my choir involved.’ I said, ‘Absolutely, let’s do it.’ ”
“So, he’s working on that end. I don’t know what it’s all going to be, but he’s going to do something with social distancing and all the right things.”
The Easter Sunday service will be broadcast over Osteen’s megachurch feed at his official website at both 9.30 A.M. EST and 12 P.M. EST.

Jamie Dornan Defends Kristen Wiig and Gal Gadot Over Cringey 'Imagine' Video

    WENN

The ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ actor responds to the backlash over his star-studded ‘Imagine’ video, insisting he and his celebrity pals didn’t mean to offend anyone.
    Apr 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Fifty Shades of Grey” star Jamie Dornan has jumped to the defence of his pal Kristen Wiig, after she was slammed for putting together a cringeworthy viral video featuring celebrities singing along to John Lennon’s “Imagine”.
Wiig and “Wonder Woman” star Gal Gadot came up with the plan to help lift the spirits of people on lockdown, but the idea fell flat and led to fans and critics alike taking aim at the actresses for being out of touch.
Dornan, who was among the stars who appeared in the video, has now defended the project, insisting people should understand Gadot and his friend were simply trying to do a good thing.
“Kristen and I did a movie together last summer… and we got on brilliantly,” Jamie told the “Tea With Me” podcast. “I would do anything for her – that’s how highly I think of her. I was the biggest fan of her before anyway.”
“Kristen texted, ‘Gal and I are trying to organise this thing to lift spirits,’ so I was like, ‘Of course I’ll do it.’ Then she texted days later saying, ‘Sorry’… Not being on social media, I wasn’t aware of the reaction – but was made aware by mates.”
Jamie, who revealed he shot his segment from his toilet, has a good idea why so many people were upset by the video, adding, “I’ll tell you what the problem was: I literally did mine in the toilet of my house. Quite clearly, some people had escaped to their second home.”
“There’s too much acreage in the background, too many beautiful trees swaying in the background, clearly in front of an ocean, that sort of craic.”

Many viewers criticised the stars in the video for trying to seem sincere about the coronavirus pandemic and the plight of the world as a whole while singing in the gardens of their palatial mansions and at home in their luxury pads.

Selena Gomez Goes on 'The Bachelorette'-Style Dates in Teaser for 'Boyfriend' Music Video

Following the release of the deluxe version of ‘Rare’, the ‘Look At Her Now’ songstress will unveil a full new promo for one of the bonus tracks on Friday noon, April 10.
    Apr 10, 2020
AceShowbiz – Selena Gomez got men vying for her heart in a teaser for “Boyfriend” music video. Just hours after releasing the deluxe version of her third studio album “Rare”, the “Look At Her Now” songstress unveiled a snippet to the promo for one of its bonus tracks that saw her going on “The Bachelorette”-style dates.
Sharing the 10-second video on Instagram on Thursday, April 9, the 27-year-old could be seen in three different sets with potential suitors. She put on her best looks for the dates, wearing glam-up nude color dress in one, and a black dress with plunging neckline in another. The short clip closes with fluttering rose petals which unveil a question, “Selena Gomez, who will she choose?”
Along with the teaser, the former Disney sweetheart spilled when her fans and followers can get the answer to the question. “Who will she pick? Tune in to the ‘Boyfriend’ premiere tomorrow at 9 am PT to find out!” she wrote in the caption of the post, adding a man-and-woman-holding-hands emoji.

The lyrics of Selena’s “Boyfriend” itself are likely a reflection of her struggles in finding her own Mr. Right. “I want a boyfriend/ But I just keep hitting dead ends/ Try to take a shortcut, but I get cut again and again,” the ex-girlfriend of Justin Bieber sang in the chorus. “Tell me, are there any good ones left?/ I keep finding wrong ones, but I want love again and again.”

Days before she offered a sneak peek at the song’s music video, Selena stressed that romantic relationship wasn’t her main focus as the world is dealing with the coronavirus pandemic. “We wrote it long before our current crisis, but in the context of today, I want to be clear that a boyfriend is nowhere near the top of my list of priorities,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “Just like the rest of the world, I’m praying for safety, unity and recovery during this pandemic.”
The former “Wizards of Waverly Place” actress has also been active in supporting the front lines in the battle against COVID-19. In late March, she revealed her commitment to provide Cedars-Sinai Medical Center’s doctors and nurses with masks and ventilators. Days later, she announced that “$1 of every order in my official store” will be donated to the Plus 1 COVID-19 relief fund.

Jordyn Woods Plans Music Career After 'The Masked Singer' Elimination

    Instagram

The former best friend of Kylie Jenner wants to be a professional singer after she shocked audience when she’s revealed as the face behind Kangaroo mask on the talent show.
    Apr 10, 2020
AceShowbiz – Kylie Jenner’s former best friend Jordyn Woods is planning a career in music after wowing audiences as The Kangaroo on “The Masked Singer U.S.”
The social media influencer was unmasked on the singing competition, which sees stars don elaborate costumes and show off their vocal talents in a bid to fool viewers and judges Robin Thicke, Nicole Scherzinger, Ken Jeong, and Jenny McCarthy, on Wednesday, April 8, 2020.
Despite having kept her singing skills quiet until now, many fans guessed she was the famous face behind the mask, as she told People, “I didn’t even realise people would know, because I’ve never publicly sang. People are just smart.”
Now, however, she’s got the bug for music, and confessed she’s planning to hit the studio and lay down vocals on a bunch of tracks she’s already been working on.
“Sometimes people (are) like, ‘What is her talent?’… I wanted to show people a different side of me that even I didn’t know existed before doing the show,” she explained. “There will be an album. Stay tuned for when this is over and I can actually get to the studio to record the music I’ve made.”

Jordyn was ousted from the Kardashian/Jenner sisters’ inner circle after it emerged she kissed Khloe Kardashian’s baby daddy, Tristan Thompson, at a house party last year 2019, prompting the couple to break up around the time the “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” star was due to give birth to daughter Dream.

    Apr 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – Randy Newman has written a quirky new COVID-19 pandemic tune to help raise cash for a struggling Southern California radio station.
The singer/songwriter performed “Stay Away” virtually on his piano at home on Wednesday (April 08) and the footage went viral.
Introducing the tune, the “Short People” singer said, “Apparently there’s some disease that’s going around. Stay six feet away from people. Wash your hands, religiously and often.”
He then sang the tune, which featured the lines, “Venus in sweatpants/ That’s who you are/ And when this mess is over/ I’ll buy you a car…” and, “Stay away from me baby/ Keep your distance, please/ Stay away from me/ Words of love in times like these.”

He closed the footage, shot as part of a KPCC radio drive, by adding, “I wish everyone well and wish myself well – to some extent. Stay safe. It’s hard for Americans who don’t like being told what to do at all. But in this case, you know, let’s do it. We’ll be all right.”

The Weeknd Claims to Be Owing His Early Success to Ariana Grande

    WENN

The ‘Starboy’ hitmaker, who teamed up with the ‘7 Rings’ singer for the 2014 hit ‘Love Me Harder’, opens up about how he got in touch with super producer Max Martin.
    Apr 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – The Weeknd owes his early career success to Ariana Grande after his collaboration with the pop star led him to super producer Max Martin.
The “Starboy” hitmaker teamed up with Ariana for the 2014 hit “Love Me Harder”, which was produced by record-breaking hitmaker Martin, and he now reveals that meeting him led to the creation of his breakout tracks “In the Night”, “Can’t Feel My Face” and the songs on his triple platinum release, “Starboy”.
“Ariana was kinda my foot in the door with Max, my chance to show him ‘I can play this game,’ y’know?” The Weeknd tells Variety. “But when we got in the room together, we didn’t really connect as much. Then someone invited him to a show I did at the Hollywood Bowl, and he saw 15,000 people singing along, and I think he was like, ‘OK, there’s something I’m not getting.’ ”
He adds, “So we sat down again, and the first song we created was ‘In the Night’.”

The singer dropped his fourth album, “After Hours”, last month.

The Weeknd Credits Himself for Inspiring Usher to Use His Music Style in 2012 Hit 'Climax'

    WENN

Though initially angry that the ‘My Boo’ singer copied his signature alternative RnB style, the ‘Blinding Lights’ hitmaker now admits that he found the move ‘very flattering.’
    Apr 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – The Weeknd believed he played a part in the success of Usher’s hit single “Climax”. Eight years after the 2012 song from the “My Boo” singer’s “Looking 4 Myself” album topped the R&B chart, the “Blinding Lights” hitmaker came forward to claim that his fellow musician was inspired by his signature music style.
In the latest cover story for Variety, the 30-year-old Canadian singer expressed his belief that his 2011 debut remix “House of Balloons” was used by the 41-year-old musician for his 2012 single. ” ‘House of Balloons’ literally changed the sound of pop music before my eyes,” he said. “I heard ‘Climax’, that [2012] Usher song, and was like, ‘Holy f**k, that’s a Weeknd song.’ ”
The “Starboy” singer, whose real name is Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, admitted that hearing his signature alternative R&B style in the “Yeah!” hitmaker’s music initially made him mad. “It was very flattering, and I knew I was doing something right, but I also got angry,” he gushed. “But the older I got, I realized it’s a good thing.”
During the interview, the ex-boyfriend of Bella Hadid also discussed the release of his latest album “After Hours”. While many artists postponed their albums because of the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic, he pressed on with his plan due to his devotees. “Fans had been waiting for the album, and I felt like I had to deliver it,” he claimed.
“The commercial success is a blessing, especially because the odds were against me: [Music] streaming is down 10%, stores are closed, people can’t go to concerts, but I didn’t care. I knew how important it was to my fans.”
The album itself was inspired by The Weeknd’s own story. One particular track, “Snowchild”, spoke about the dark time when he was abusing drugs. “It was tough growing up where I was from,” he noted. “I got into a lot of trouble, got kicked out of school, moved to different schools and finally dropped out.”
“I really thought film was gonna be my way out, but I couldn’t really make a movie to feel better, you know? Music was very direct therapy; it was immediate and people liked it. It definitely saved my life,” he confided.

Adam Sandler Advocates Social Distancing With 'Don't Touch Grandma' Song

    WENN

The ‘Uncut Gems’ actor teams up with late night host Jimmy Fallon on a new song to raise awareness of social distancing amid the global covid-19 pandemic.
    Apr 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – Adam Sandler and Jimmy Fallon have helped raise awareness of safety regulations during the coronavirus crisis with a new song titled “Don’t Touch Grandma”.
The “Uncut Gems” actor appeared virtually on the U.S. late night talk show host’s programme, amid the Covid-19 lockdown, to help remind viewers to keep their distance from the elderly during the pandemic.
Fallon, 45, and Sandler, 53, both strummed along to guitars as they provided vocals for the tune.
“I love my grandma so much / I know she loves me, too,” Fallon sang, as Sandler added, “But thanks to this stupid virus / There are some new grandma rules.”
In unison, they crooned, “Don’t touch grandma / leave her alone / you can spend a quarter to call her on the phone. So don’t touch grandma / Keep it to Zoom / Or learn to play canasta from across the room.”
Sandler then urged listeners to tell their grandma, “no touchy, just looky,” adding, “Don’t touch grandma / give her some space / even if your grandma wants to go to second base.”
The pair then concluded by reminding fans that, “you still can smell her grandma smell from six feet away.”
    [embedded content]
The new song comes after Sandler recently performed a number dubbed “The Quarantine Song” on Fallon’s online version of “The Tonight Show”, which applauded healthcare workers for their efforts in fighting the coronavirus.
“Don’t Touch Grandma” is available to watch on the official “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” YouTube channel.
