Jay-Z Fires Back at His NFL Controversy Through Jay Electronica's 'Flux Capacitor'

    https://www.beyonce.com/

Aside from questioning the logic behind the ‘sell-out’ accusations, the ‘Empire State of Mind’ hitmaker compares himself to Cleveland Browns star player Odell Beckham Jr. In the new song.
    Mar 14, 2020
AceShowbiz – Jay-Z has mocked allegations suggesting he sold himself out to go into business with bosses at America’s National Football League (NFL), insisting he doesn’t need the money.
The “Empire State of Mind” hitmaker shocked fans last summer (19) when he entered into a partnership with NFL officials via his Roc Nation firm, and was appointed the organisation’s live music entertainment strategist, overseeing big gigs including Jennifer Lopez and Shakira’s Super Bowl Halftime Show in early February.
The hip-hop mogul faced a backlash over the move, having previously criticised NFL executives’ treatment of quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who has been out of a job since the end of the 2016/2017 season after kneeling during each game’s U.S. National Anthem to protest police brutality and racial inequality.
Jay-Z previously defended the business deal, insisting his ultimate goal is to use his new position inside the organisation to further various social justice initiatives, bolstering efforts with the $100 million (£80 million) pledged by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell over the next decade.
Now the rapper is responding to critics once more in song, as a featured artist on Jay Electronica’s long-awaited debut album, “A Written Testimony”.
On the track “Flux Capacitor”, Jay-Z questions the logic behind the “sell-out” accusations, and compares himself to Cleveland Browns star player Odell Beckham Jr., who is known for his one-handed catches.

“Why would I sell out? I’m already rich, don’t make no sense/Got more money than Goodell, a whole NFL bench,” he raps. “Did it one-handed like Odell, handcuffed to a jail/I would’ve stayed on the sideline if they could’ve tackled that s**t themselves.”

“A Written Testimony” dropped on Friday, March 13.

    Apega/Adriana M. Barraza

‘The Bones’ has helped the ‘I Could Use a Love Song’ singer, who is pregnant with her first child, to become the first solo female to top the Billboard countdown since 2016.
    Mar 13, 2020
AceShowbiz – Pregnant Maren Morris has scored a big hit for country music’s women by hitting the top of Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.
The success of her song “The Bones” makes Maren the first solo female to top the countdown since 2016.
“The Bones” ends the long run of Dan + Shay and Justin Bieber’s “10,000 Hours”, which held the number one spot for 21 weeks.
Maren is now officially on her countdown to motherhood – her first child is due in weeks.

Morris also recently performed one of the final shows at this year’s Houston Rodeo in Texas, before the schedule was scrapped by city officials trying to contain the spread of coronavirus.

Taylor Swift and Robbie Williams Have Their Gigs Canceled, Celine Dion Reschedules Tour

    WENN/Instar/Graham Finney

Capital One’s JamFest and World Tour Melbourne have been called off due to the coronavirus pandemic, while the ‘Taking Chances’ hitmaker is postponing the remaining 17 dates of her tour.
    Mar 13, 2020
AceShowbiz – Taylor Swift, Celine Dion and Robbie Williams are among the latest in a spate of celebrities who have cancelled gigs due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The “ME!” singer had been due to headline Capital One’s JamFest on 5 April in Atlanta, Georgia, which fell during the 2020 NCAA March Madness Music Festival. However, it was announced on Thursday (March 12) that the gig had been axed, after the NCAA basketball division made the decision to cancel the remainder of their men’s and women’s championships this year.
Capital One added in a statement of their own: “We are united with the NCAA’s decision to cancel the Final Four and all related events including the March Madness Music Festival. In the interest of our cardholders, artists, staff and fans, the Capital One #JamFest2020 will not take place.”

Capital One announced the gig cancellation.
The concert was to be Taylor’s only scheduled U.S. concert aside from her “Lover Fest” tour dates. She is still set to perform at Britain’s Glastonbury music festival in June.
Meanwhile, Celine has announced that the remaining 17 dates on the North American leg of her tour will be rescheduled, with her team announcing in a statement: “Ticket holders of the postponed performances will receive more information shortly and should keep their original tickets to use at the rescheduled dates later this year.”

It comes after the 51-year-old singer postponed two shows this week when she came down with a cold, although she reassured fans that she’d tested negative for Covid-19.
And British singer Robbie has been left disappointed after flying out to Australia, only to learn that his performance at the inaugural World Tour Melbourne on Saturday has been called off. The one-off concert was set to take place at Albert Park’s Lakeside Stadium to coincide with the Australian Grand Prix, which was also axed on Friday in line with the Australian government’s advice that all large gatherings with more than 500 people in attendance should be cancelled.

Diplo Faults Established EDM Artists for Not Letting Younger Acts Shine

    Billboard

Discussing the difficulties of bringing the ‘underground’ dance scene to mainstream, the ‘Close to Me’ DJ notes that ‘it’s really easy to copy someone’s sound’ in EDM world.
    Mar 13, 2020
AceShowbiz – Diplo is hoping to give up-and-coming electronic dance music (EDM) artists a commercial platform with his Higher Ground record label.
The producer started the project two years ago and is hoping to elevate the “underground” dance scene in the U.S. to new levels of mainstream popularity.
“I’m always looking for a way to make that (underground) sound commercial,” he told Billboard. “For that to make sense in America is kind of a riddle.”
Having worked with EDM acts including Born Dirty, Andhim and Sidepiece, the star understands the difficulties musicians face, as he reflected, “The doors kind of got closed behind Martin Garrix or Marshmello”.
“The old guys aren’t going away. I’m not going away. And it’s really easy to copy someone’s sound,” Diplo, real name Thomas Wesley Pentz, explained. “If I’m producer A, and I hear an underground producer doing something that’s coming up, I’ll just do what he does. EDM doesn’t have rules that you can’t copy people’s sounds because EDM fans don’t care. They’re not there for the prestige of it.”

“So with all these EDM guys, they don’t let the young person that’s doing the cool thing up,” he added.

Live Nation Puts All Arena Tours on Halt Over Coronavirus Pandemic

Kenny Chesney, Michael Buble and Dan + Shay are among the touring acts who have postponed their treks until the worst of the growing health emergency is over.
    Mar 13, 2020
AceShowbiz – Promoters at concert company Live Nation have suspended all their arena tours due to growing concerns over the coronavirus pandemic.
All big-name treks, including those by Kenny Chesney, Michael Buble, and Dan + Shay, will pause until the worst of the growing health emergency is over, and the promoters are advising all their touring acts to prepare for a return home.
Some shows on Thursday and Friday (March 12&13) will go ahead, but all gigs beginning this coming weekend will be axed.
Company bosses have also instructed employees to work remotely from home until further notice.
Live Nation’s decision comes after a week of cancellations and postponements of major events, including the Coachella, Stagecoach, and SXSW festivals, and all dates on the Houston Rodeo calendar.
The Zac Brown Band, Pearl Jam, and Kiss have also pulled and postponed shows over coronavirus concerns.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to Reschedule 2020 Induction Ceremony in Light of Coronavirus

Also impacted by the rapid spread of the COVID-19 is Juno Awards as the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences announce the event will no longer take place on March 15.
    Mar 13, 2020
AceShowbiz – Nine Inch Nails and Depeche Mode will have to wait to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame after organisers pulled their spring celebration in light of the coronavirus crisis.
The Doobie Brothers had also been due to be honoured at Cleveland, Ohio’s Public Hall on 2 May, alongside the late Whitney Houston, The Notorious B.I.G., and T-Rex.
“We are very disappointed to announce the postponement of this year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony,” Hall of Fame President Joel Peresman shares in a statement.
“Our first concern is to the health and safety of our attendees and artists and we are complying to the direction of the local and state authorities and common sense. We look forward to rescheduling the ceremony and will make that announcement at the earliest convenience.”
Meanwhile, the rapid spread of the COVID-19 disease has prompted Juno Awards officials in Canada to scrap the prizegiving.
Singer Alessia Cara had been due to host the biggest night in the Canadian music calendar in Saskatoon on Sunday (March 15), but bosses at the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) have announced the event will no longer take place.
“We are devastated to cancel this national celebration of music, but at this time of global uncertainty, the health, safety and well-being of all Canadians must stand at the forefront of any decisions that impact our communities,” reads a statement issued on Thursday, March 12.
Instead, CARAS executives are considering “alternative” ways to celebrate the 2020 nominees and winners.
Cara led all nominees with six mentions, while Justin Bieber, Shawn Mendes, Bryan Adams, Avril Lavigne, rapper Tory Lanez, and The Weeknd were also among the stars up for awards.
The news comes on the heels of the cancellation of the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, which had been due to take place on 22 March, with Chance The Rapper as host.
The coronavirus pandemic has also forced major festivals, like this month’s SXSW and April’s Coachella and Stagecoach, to be either axed or postponed, too.
The pandemic has also shut down the Lollapalooza Argentina festival. Bosses have announced the event, set for 27-29 March, will be postponed until the second half of the year.
“Faced with this unprecedented moment, our top priority is preserving the health and security of the public, artists and work teams and heed the preventive measures of government and health authorities,” a statement reads. “We will share more information soon on our website and social media.”

The festival’s line-up included Guns N’ Roses, The Strokes, and Lana Del Rey.

Glastonbury 2020: Kendrick Lamar Joins Taylor Swift in Headliners Line-Up

    WENN/Adriana M. Barraza/Avalon

Dua Lipa, the Pet Shop Boys, Suzanne Vega, Gilberto Gil, Sinead O’Connor, the Manic Street Preachers, Happy Mondays and Mabel have, in the meantime, been named as performers.
    Mar 13, 2020
AceShowbiz – Kendrick Lamar will join Paul McCartney and Taylor Swift at Glastonbury if festival bosses can avoid a coronavirus cancellation.
The rapper has been added as the event’s third headliner, while Dua Lipa, the Pet Shop Boys, Suzanne Vega, Gilberto Gil, Sinead O’Connor, the Manic Street Preachers, Happy Mondays, and Mabel have also been named as performers, who will join the likes of Diana Ross, Supergrass and Lana Del Rey at Worthy Farm in Somerset in June.
Announcing the updated bill for the 50th anniversary of the beloved festival, organiser Emily Eavis revealed she had her “fingers firmly crossed” the event will go ahead.
“As things stand we are still working hard to deliver our 50th anniversary festival in June and we are very proud of the bill that we have put together over the last year or so,” she said.
“No one has a crystal ball to see exactly where we will all be 15 weeks from now, but we are keeping our fingers firmly crossed that it will be here at Worthy Farm for the greatest show on Earth!”

The coronavirus outbreak has already affected several tours and festivals, with acts like The Who, BTS (Bangtan Boys), Miley Cyrus, the Zac Brown Band, Kiss, Pearl Jam, Green Day, Queen, and Madonna cancelling or postponing shows, while the SXSW, Coachella, Stagecoach, and Ultra Music festivals in the U.S. have been scrapped or rescheduled. Austria’s Snowbombing 2020 has also been called off due to the pandemic, as has the Country To Country festival, which was due to take place in England, Scotland and Ireland this weekend.

My Chemical Romance Work on Rescheduling of Japanese Tour Amid Coronavirus Pandemic

The Pixies have also postponed their remaining Australian shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Perth, while Bikini Kill announce they will be rescheduling their March tour.
    Mar 12, 2020
AceShowbiz – My Chemical Romance have postponed their upcoming tour dates in Japan due to the global coronavirus pandemic.
The band, fronted by vocalist Gerard Way, had been due to take to the stage for a headline show, as well as performing at the Download and Dirty Honey festivals on March 28, 29, and 31, respectively.
However, in a statement posted to their Twitter page on Thursday, March 12, the rock band announced they would be pushing back the dates on the advice of medical professionals.
“The promoter of our Japan shows suggested that we postpone the shows in Japan for the safety of the public, and we are heeding that advice,” they wrote.
“Please know we are working on rescheduling shows and will try to announce those soon. We are terribly sad to postpone, and even more distressed about what is happening the world over.”
The group are the latest in a string of big names to postpone or cancel tour dates because of the coronavirus.

My Chemical Romance announced their postponed tour dates.

The band shared the news on their Twitter account.
The Pixies had been due to conclude their tour of Australia in the coming weeks, but said in a statement that they are postponing the dates.
“Out of caution for current public health concerns, Pixies are postponing the remaining Australian shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Perth,” they wrote. “This was an extremely difficult decision, but the well-being of our fans is always our top priority. Rescheduled dates for all of these shows will be announced soon.”

Meanwhile, Bikini Kill also announced they’d be rescheduling their March tour, tweeting, “We take the health and safety of our supporters, crew and opening bands very seriously, and given the situation in Seattle as well as the lack of information about the actual infection rate of the surrounding areas, it doesn’t make sense for us to go forward with any of the shows in the region.”

Bikini Kill takes to their social media to announce they’s rescheduling their upcoming tour.
All three postponements came just hours after the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared that the spread of coronavirus globally can now be considered a pandemic.
