    Instagram

Kim has already teased an upcoming return of the Kardashian/Jenner family as their long-running family reality series is bidding farewell with the current season 20.

    Apr 10, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Kim Kardashian has teased she “won’t be gone long” after the end of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians”.

The 40-year-old reality star sent fans into meltdown when she revealed their iconic reality show would be ending this year (21), but she has given them hope again – insisting the family will be back on screens very soon.

Taking to Twitter, she wrote, “We won’t be gone long!! Our new show on @hulu will be coming after the final season. (sic)”

Back in September last year (20), Kim revealed the show was ending.

She wrote in a statement at the time, “It is with heavy hearts that we’ve made the difficult decision as a family to say goodbye to ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’. After what will be 14 years, 20 seasons, hundreds of episodes and numerous spin-off shows, we are beyond grateful to all of you who’ve watched us for all of these years – through the good times, the bad times, the happiness, the tears, and the many relationships and children. We’ll forever cherish the wonderful memories and countless people we’ve met along the way…”

“Without Keeping Up with The Kardashians, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I am so incredibly grateful to everyone who has watched and supported me and my family these past 14 incredible years. This show made us who we are and I will be forever in debt to everyone who played a role in shaping our careers and changing our lives forever.”

And momager Kris Jenner admits ending the show was the hardest business decision she’s ever had to make, adding, “It was a very hard decision to make, really hard and really sad.”

Chinese Shows Blur Western Brands Over Xinjiang Cotton Dispute

Online platforms that stream dance, singing and comedy shows are pixelating performers’ T-shirts and sneakers amid a nationalistic fervor.HONG KONG — Viewers of some of China’s most popular online variety shows were recently greeted by a curious sight: a blur of pixels obscuring the brands on sneakers and T-shirts worn by contestants. As far as viewers could tell, the censored apparel showed no hints of obscenity or indecency. Instead, the problem lay with the foreign brands that made them.Since late March, streaming platforms in China have diligently censored the logos and symbols of brands like Adidas that adorn contestants performing dance, singing and standup-comedy routines. The phenomenon followed a feud between the government and big-name international companies that said they would avoid using cotton produced in the western Chinese region of Xinjiang, where the authorities are accused of mounting a wide-reaching campaign of repression against ethnic minorities, including Uyghurs. While the anger in China against Western brands has been palpable and enduring on social media, the sight of performers turned into rapidly moving blobs of censored shoes and clothing has provided rare, albeit unintentional, comic relief for Chinese viewers amid a heated global dispute. It has also exposed the unexpected political tripwires confronting apolitical entertainment platforms as the government continues to weaponize the Chinese consumer in its political disputes with the West. Most of the brands were not discernible, but some could be identified. Chinese brands did not appear to be blurred. It’s not clear if Chinese government officials explicitly ordered the shows to obscure the brands. But experts said that the video streaming sites apparently felt pressured or obliged to publicly distance themselves from Western brands amid the feud.Ying Zhu, a media professor at the City University of New York and Hong Kong Baptist University, suggested that the censorship was a response to both state and grass-roots patriotism, especially as the opinions of nationalistic viewers become more prominent and loud.Moving cotton from China’s Xinjiang region at a railway freight station in Jiujiang in central Jiangxi Province last month.Chinatopix, via Associated Press“The pressure is both top down and bottom up,” said Professor Zhu. “There is no need for the state to issue a directive for the companies to rally behind. Nationalistic sentiment runs high and mighty, and it drowns all other voices.”The censorship campaign can be traced to a dispute that erupted last month, when the Swedish clothing giant H&M was suddenly scrubbed from Chinese online shopping sites. The move came after the Communist Youth League and state news media resurfaced a statement H&M made months ago expressing concerns about forced labor in Xinjiang.Other Western clothing brands had also said they would avoid using Xinjiang cotton, and one after another, many Chinese celebrities severed ties with them. Since then, the loyalty test seems to have spread to streaming shows.Fang Kecheng, an assistant professor of journalism at the Chinese University of Hong Kong who studies media and politics, said he believed that the platforms most likely censored the brands to pre-empt a backlash from viewers.“If anyone is not happy with those brands appearing in the shows, they could start a social media campaign attacking the producers, which could attract attention from the government and eventually lead to punishment,” he said by email on Thursday. As the blurring spread across apparel brands, it led to some hiccups on shows. The video platform iQiyi announced that it would delay the release of an episode of “Youth With You 3,” a reality show for aspiring pop idols. It did not disclose the reason, but internet users surmised that it had to do with Adidas, which had supplied T-shirts and sneakers for the contestants to wear as a sort of team uniform. Some internet users made mocking predictions about how the upcoming episode would look, photoshopping images to flip the contestants vertically so that their Adidas T-shirts read, “Sabiba” instead. In an episode of “Youth With You 3” released on March 18, contestants’ Adidas T-shirts were on display.iQiyiThen, in a March 28 episode of the same show, the Adidas logo was blurred out on contestants’ T-shirts. But the Adidas stripes were visible elsewhere.iQiyiWhen the episode streamed two days later, pixelated rectangles obscured the T-shirts and sports jackets of dozens of dancers and the distinguishing triple stripes on their Adidas sneakers. Internet users observed mirthfully that none of the shirts had been spared, save for the one contestant who had worn his shirt backward. Many extended condolences to video editors for their lost sleep and labor blurring the T-shirts.Other shows executed similar blurring feats in postproduction. Contestants on another reality show for entertainers, “Sisters Who Make Waves,” practiced cartwheels in sneakers blitzed into indiscernible blurs. So many shoes were erased in the stand-up comedy series, “Roast” that when a group gathered on a podium, the space between the floor and their long hems appeared to melt into a fog.A representative for Tencent Video, which hosts “Roast,” declined to comment on why some brands were censored. The streaming platforms iQiyi and Mango TV, which respectively host “Youth With You 3” and “Sisters Who Make Waves,” did not respond to requests for comment. Adidas did not respond to emailed questions. The onscreen blur or crop is hardly novel in China. The earlobes of male pop stars have been airbrushed to hide earrings deemed too effeminate. A period drama featuring décolletage distinctive to the Tang Dynasty was pulled off the air in 2015, only to be replaced with a version that cropped out much of the costumes and awkwardly zoomed in on the talking heads of the performers. Soccer players have been ordered to cover arm tattoos with long sleeves. The onscreen censorship illustrates the difficult line that the online video platforms, which are regulated by the National Radio and Television Administration, need to tread.“The blurring is likely the platforms’ self-censorship in order to be safe than sorry,” said Haifeng Huang, an associate professor of political science at the University of California at Merced and a scholar of authoritarianism and public opinion in China.“But it nevertheless implies the power of the state and the nationalistic segment of the society, which is also likely the message that the audience gets: These big platforms have to censor themselves even without being explicitly told so.”The blurring episodes also show how the platforms seem to be willing to sacrifice the quality of the viewing experience to avoid political fallout, even when they become the butt of audience jokes.“In a social environment where censorship is commonplace, people are desensitized and even treat it as another form of entertainment,” Professor Huang said.Albee Zhang More

    WENN/Adriana M. Barraza/Avalon

The Bravo executive producer announced on April 6 the 13 children of stars from ‘Real Housewives’ franchise who would join him for his late-night special and ask for fan questions.

    Apr 9, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Lisa Rinna has set the record straight. Amid reports that there were Housewives who were not happy with Andy Cohen creating a kids special of “Watch What Happens Live”, “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” shared in an Instagram post that she wasn’t one of them.

Shutting down rumors that she complained to Andy because her two daughters, Delilah Belle Hamlin and Amelia Gray Hamlin, weren’t included on the new project, Lisa wrote on the Thursday, April 8 post, “My kids were asked to do it.” She went on adding, “It wasn’t me Calling Big Daddy.”

Lisa Rinna denied being upset over WWHL kids special.

The 57-year-old Bravo personality continued, “But now I want to know who called.” It remains to be seen why they declined the offer to participate on the special.

Andy announced on April 6 that some of Housewives’ children would join him for his late-night special and ask for fan questions. Among the lineup are Kandi Burruss’ daughter Riley, Ramona Singer’s daughter Avery and Meredith Marks’ son Brooks. The three would join other 11 children of stars from “Real Housewives” franchise including “The Real Housewives of New York City”, “The Real Housewives of Atlanta”, “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” as well as “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City”.

While the lineup seemed to be pretty inclusive, Andy revealed that two anonymous housewives were mad as their kids were snubbed. “I will say I heard from two moms saying, ‘Why wasn’t my daughter included?’ ” he shared on his SiriusXM show “Radio Andy”.

Sonja Morgan was named as one of the candidates of the alleged upset Housewives. However, Andy quickly denied the speculations, saying, “I would love to have Quincy [Morgan],” referring to Sonja’s daughter.

Tom Holland to Explore Mental Illness in Anthology Series 'The Crowded Room'

    WENN/Avalon

A co-production between Apple Studios and New Regency, the first season of this TV drama will be based on a biography of Daniel Keyes, who was arrested for three rapes in Ohio in the late 1970s.

    Apr 9, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Actor Tom Holland is set to explore the subject of Multiple Personality Disorder for a new TV drama based on the true crime story of Billy Milligan.

“The Crowded Room” will be an anthology series, with the first season based on Daniel Keyes’ 1981 biography, “The Minds of Billy Milligan”, a man who was arrested for three rapes in Ohio in the late 1970s.

However, he eventually became the first person ever acquitted of a crime after doctors diagnosed him with Multiple Personality Disorder, now known as Dissociative Identity Disorder, claiming he had no knowledge of the assaults as they were committed by two of his alternate personalities.

Instead of being convicted and thrown behind bars in prison, Milligan went on to spend a decade in various mental hospitals.

“The Crowded Room” will be adapted by “Cinderella Man” screenwriter Akiva Goldsman for a 10-episode first season for streaming service bosses at Apple. It is a co-production between Apple Studios and New Regency with Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan and Michael Schaefer serving as executive producers.

Goldsman and Holland will also serve as executive producers on the project, which reunites the “Spider-Man: Homecoming” star with Apple officials following his recent crime drama “Cherry (2021)”, in which he portrayed an army veteran suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, who turns bank robber to pay for his drug addiction.

Holland will next be seen reprising his role as Peter Parker in Marvel Cinematic Universe’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, which is set to be released in December 2021. His other project, “Uncharted”, is slated to be released theatrically in 2022.

Millie Bobby Brown Scolds 'Stranger Things' Co-Star David Harbour for Spilling Season 4 Spoilers

    WENN/Instar/Derrick Salters

The Eleven depicter cuts short her onscreen father’s Instagram Live after noticing that the actor is going live from the set still in his character’s costume and bloody makeup.

    Apr 9, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Millie Bobby Brown has just called out David Harbour. Upon learning her “Stranger Things” co-star spilled spoilers of the series’ season 4 on social media, the Eleven depicter jokingly scolded him.

The 17-year-old’s reaction came after her on-screen father hopped on Instagram Live on Wednesday, April 7 while he was still in his character’s costume and bloody makeup. “What’s up, everybody? How’s it going? I haven’t done Instagram Live in a little while. I think I can only be here for like three and a half minutes because I think I have to go to set fairly soon,” he began.

“I’m here, shooting season four of our television show,” the Jim Hopper depicter further divulged. “I don’t think I’m supposed to be showing you these things. Who wants to hear spoilers for season four? Let me just read directly from the script.”

David then burst out laughing when Millie commented on his Live. “Oh s**t! Millie! Oh, no. Millie, don’t tell Netflix, don’t tell Netflix that I’m doing Instagram Live from set,” he said, before lightheartedly threatening her, “I’m just going to read your sections of the script, Millie. I’m just gonna tell everybody what happens to Eleven this season.”

      See also…

After David allowed Millie to join the Live, she yelled, “What are you doing?!” In response to her question, he laughed and replied, “I don’t know, I’m so crazy. I’m so crazy I shouldn’t be doing this.” When she asked whether he was in his costume, he questioned back, “They saw it in the trailer. Didn’t they see it?”

Feeling surprised by the actor’s answer, the teen was quick to scream, “Get off of live and go back to work! You’re getting a phone call [from Netflix] right now.” He then quipped, “I know… I’m getting fired.”

“Stranger Things” season 4 is currently on its production after being shut down in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Gaten Matarazzo recently told Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” that the upcoming season might end up being the “scariest” one yet.
