Liam Payne Proud of Harry Styles for Winning First Grammy

    WENN

The ‘Strip That Down’ singer congratulates his ‘brother’ for becoming the first One Direction star to win a Golden Gramophone at the Grammy Awards over the weekend.

    Mar 17, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Liam Payne has congratulated his “brother” Harry Styles on his Grammy win.

The singer sent One Direction fans into a frenzy after he gushed about how “proud” he is of his bandmate for taking home his first-ever Grammy for Best Pop Solo Performance for “Watermelon Sugar” at Sunday’s (14Mar21) ceremony.

“Congrats @hshq on your Grammy win. What a huge moment, proud to be your brother,” he captioned a meme about the boy band on his Instagram Story, leading to “proud to be your brother” trending on Twitter.

Harry – whose bandmates also include Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan – is the first 1D star to be both nominated and to receive a Grammy.

Accepting the award, Harry said, “Wow. To everyone who made this record with me, thank you so much. This was the first song we wrote after my first album came out, during a day off in Nashville and I want to say thanks to Tom, Tyler, and Mitch. Rob Stringer and everyone at Columbia, my manager Jeffrey who has always nudged me to be better and never pushed me, thank you so much, I feel very, very grateful to be here.”

His speech was then bleeped out as he praised his fellow nominees; Justin Bieber, Doja Cat, Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, and Taylor Swift.

“All of these songs are f**king massive so thank you so much. I feel very honoured to be here among you, so thank you so much,” he said.

Harry’s Grammy success came after former One Direction band member, Zayn Malik – who quit the “What Makes You Beautiful” group in 2015 to pursue a solo career – blasted The Recording Academy and accused them of having “secret committees.”

He tweeted, “@recordingacad are moving in inches and we need to move in miles. I’m keeping the pressure on & fighting for transparency & inclusion. We need to make sure we are honouring and celebrating ‘creative excellence’ of ALL. End the secret committees. Until then … #f**kthegrammys (sic).”

One Direction Members Tell Liam Payne to Shut Up About Their Reunion

    WENN

The ‘Strip That Down’ singer reveals that his bandmates are not happy with him for constantly making comments about their upcoming reunion in interviews.
    Apr 25, 2020
AceShowbiz – Liam Payne refused to say any more about the much-speculated One Direction reunion – after one of his bandmates threatened to throw eggs at his house if he doesn’t keep quiet.
The “Strip That Down” singer got himself into hot water after seemingly confirming plans for a comeback to celebrate the group’s 10th anniversary later this year, and he told U.K. TV show “Good Morning Britain” (GMB) on Friday, April 24, 2020 he’s “already said too much” on the subject.
“I can’t tell you too much because I’ve already said too much,” he said. “There’s been a threat from one of the members that he’s going to egg my house if I say any more so I don’t want that to happen.”
He added, “It’s been nice, we’ve been talking to each other a lot more. The lines of communication are a lot more back open with everyone. I think we’ve realised how special it is to get to a 10-year anniversary of anything really.”
Reflecting on the success of the group, which was formed on U.K. TV show “The X Factor” in 2010, went on to share, “To have gone as far as we did and be as successful as we were and still be here today and receiving all the things from the fans, it’s really nice, so we’re definitely feeling how special it is and making sure we’re telling each other that.”
While fans were convinced the group is set to reunite after Liam, Niall Horan, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson all re-followed former member Zayn Malik on Twitter – five years after his sensational departure from the band – the “Bedroom Floor” star later suggested Zayn wouldn’t be making a comeback.
During the “GMB” chat he joked about “bringing (DJ pal and collaborator) Alesso in as a fifth member,” hinting the group will reunite as a four-piece.

Liam Payne Knows Zayn Malik's Heart Was Not in One Direction Long Before Departure

    WENN

Speaking about his former bandmate, the ‘Strip That Down’ hitmaker recalls the time the ‘Pillowtalk’ singer told the band he was forced to go to ‘The X Factor U.K.’ audition by his mother.
    Apr 23, 2020
AceShowbiz – Liam Payne knew Zayn Malik wouldn’t stay in One Direction as his mum had to convince him to aim for pop stardom.
The band was formed by Simon Cowell and producers from five contestants on U.K. talent show “The X Factor” in 2010, going on to finish third but becoming that year’s most commercially successful act.
However, Liam reveals that he always knew Zayn’s heart wasn’t in the band long before his departure in March 2015, as the “Pillowtalk” hitmaker told his bandmates his mum convinced him to audition against his instincts.
“I remember Zayn telling us the story that it was his mum got him to go to the audition the day he didn’t want to go and that was literally what we saw all the way through One Direction,” the “Strip That Down” hitmaker tells Britain’s Daily Star newspaper.
Discussing his former bandmate’s attitude, he says that the Pillowtalk hitmaker, who hasn’t performed live since 2016 due to anxiety issues, loves making music, but hates the trappings of fame.
“Some people are made for this thing but Zayn enjoys the side of the music where he just gets to make music,” Liam explains. “I don’t think he enjoys what comes with it. I think he has to be very careful where he treads.”
“He likes to make songs and his songs do very well but at the same time he doesn’t really like to go out and perform the songs. He doesn’t really like going out and doing the press stuff that surrounds it in the crazy little world that we live in.”

Liam Payne Asks DJ Alesso to 'Fill In' for Zayn Malik During One Direction's 10 Year Reunion

    WENN/Avalon

Although he, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan have followed Zayn on Twitter again, the ‘Strip That Down’ singer hints that their ex-bandmate won’t be a part of the reunion.
    Apr 20, 2020
AceShowbiz – Liam Payne seems to be hinting that Zayn Malik will not be a part of One Direction’s 10th anniversary reunion. Even though he, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan have re-followed their former bandmate on Twitter, the “Strip That Down” singer lightheartedly asked DJ Alesso to “fill in” for the “Pillow Talk” when his group celebrate the milestone.
In an Instagram Live chat on Sunday night, April 19, the 26-year-old discussed the rumored online get-together with the “Let Me Go” DJ. Revealing that he and his bandmates have been communicating with each other from their respective lockdown places, he spilled, “Most of us are in London. We’ve been trying to arrange the first group FaceTime at the moment.”
Upon hearing the update over the band, Alesso jokingly told Liam, “Oh, wow, the whole world is about to explode.” In response, the former contestant of “The X Factor U.K.” replied, “You can come in and fill in for Zayn and join the band.”
Despite the major revelation, the “Stack It Up” singer did note that he “can’t say too much.” He added, “It was actually, Louis told me off for revealing a bit of our plans the other day. So you’re going to have the group telling me off on the group chat.”

Days prior, One Direction members has sent internet abuzz when they re-followed Zayn on Twitter. Since then, rumors have been swirling that the boys would release a new track titled “Five” in October. However, a source insisted that reunion was likely to be a small TV celebration.
“They are back in touch but talks between them are only about something small to mark the anniversary,” the insider told The Sun. “They all have their own music ongoing so a reunion right now just wouldn’t make sense.”

Liam Payne Apologizes After Called 'Biphobic' Over His New Song 'Both Ways'

    WENN

The former One Direction member is quick to respond after he is accused of ‘fetishising bisexuality’ with his latest single from next solo studio installment.
    Apr 19, 2020
AceShowbiz – Liam Payne is “sorry to anyone who got offended” over his song “Both Ways”, after the track was accused of “fetishising bisexuality.”
The raunchy record, which features lyrics including, “Flipping that body, go head, I go tails, sharing that body like it’s our last meal,” was met with backlash from fans, and led to the hashtag #liampayneisoverparty trending on Twitter.
Addressing the controversy in a new interview with Britain’s Daily Star newspaper, the former One Direction star insisted he didn’t mean to cause offence, saying, “I am sorry to anyone who got offended by certain songs or different things on the album, for sure.”
“It was never my intention with any of the writing or things I was doing,” he explained. “I was just challenging myself in different areas.”
The father-of-one said it was a “moment in time,” adding that a lot of the songs he was sent were sexually suggestive following the success of his debut solo single, “Strip That Down”.
“I was pigeonholed into this kind of thing and of course, I am a young guy I am interested in that sort of stuff, I like the idea of the songs and the grooves or certain vibes so I was like, ‘Ok let’s go for it,’ ” he added.
While Liam’s record “LP1” stalled at a disappointing number 17 on the U.K. charts, fans are convinced he is set to reunite with his former One Direction bandmates for the group’s 10th anniversary later this year 2020, after he, Niall Horan, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson all re-followed former member Zayn Malik on Twitter – five years after his sensational departure from the band.

Liam Payne Calls One Direction Breakup 'Stupid Decision' They Made When They're 'Tired'

    WENN

The ‘Strip That Down’ singer blames exhaustion after non-stop traveling for the decision to disband One Direction back in 2015 following Zayn Malik’s exit.
    Apr 15, 2020
AceShowbiz – One Direction’s split was caused by “tiredness more than anything,” according to singer Liam Payne.
The British boyband went on an extended hiatus in 2015 following the departure of Zayn Malik from the group. And in an interview on Jordan Stephens’ Spotify podcast “Killing It”, Liam admitted that the boys’ hectic schedules and lack of sleep were partly responsible with how things came to an end.
“We all just got on with it, you know, it was just a case of this is your job and this is what you do and then you just slowly spiralled into this thing,” he explained. “I mean, more than anything for us, I think the danger zone is in the band. And actually what probably caused the demise of it, towards the end, was just the tiredness more than anything. Everyone makes stupid decisions when they’re tired.”
Liam’s revelation comes after bandmate Niall Horan previously told Britain’s The Daily Telegraph newspaper, “We got tired… just tired out. Five albums, five tours, in five years. We were all knackered.”
Elsewhere on “Killing It”, Liam reflected on being rejected from “The X Factor U.K.” as a 14-year-old – two years before he returned and was put into a group that eventually became One Direction.
“People would ridicule me in the street and all sorts when I was, like, 15 or 16,” he recalled. “I once went in McDonald’s when I was turning 16 and I went up to order my thing, went to sit down with the girl I was with at the time and a group of lads at the top of the stairs were like, ‘X Factor reject!’ ”
“Then the whole restaurant was looking at me. It was a really hollow moment, that was like, ‘Oh right, now I know what it’s like to lose fame.’ ”
Fans are convinced the group is set to reunite for its 10th anniversary later this year 2020, after Liam, Niall, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson all re-followed former member Zayn Malik on Twitter – five years after his sensational departure from the band.
