I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! 2020 star Shane Richie says he killed his career by accepting a bumper brand deal with clothing detergent company, Daz.
The former EastEnders star has told his campmates he initially didn’t want to do the job so tried to “price himself out” rather than saying “no” outright.
Shane, 56, said: “Never say no to a job, just price yourself out of it.
“With Daz I didn’t want to do it so I said it would be £500,000 for 21 days work over two years.
“But then they accepted it.”
The actor continued: “I did the job and my career, it stopped over night.
“No one was calling as you become a TV personality.”
Shane claimed before that, the jobs were rolling in.

“It killed my career. I was Mr Saturday Night, Grease, the jobs were coming in as an actor, even dramas for the BBC.”
Giving a harsh example of when he was shot down after doing the advert, Shane shared: “But I remember turning up for a film audition.
“I remember having a script on the other side of the door.
“They were looking for name and a Londoner – I thought it was for me.
“Then I heard someone from the other side of the door say ‘oh we have that idiot from the Daz advert.”
Asked if he regretted taking the cash by Radio 1 presenter Jordan North, Shane replied: “I do regret a it a little bit but when you haven’t got he money and you’re mortgaged up to your eyeballs…
“I defy anyone to turn down half a million for 21 days work over two years.”
Speaking before entering the Welsh castle earlier this month, Shane admitted he was left so broke at the start of the year that he had to ask his friends for money.

“We got the call in January and I agreed to do it because it was the 20th one,” he explained.
“We were going to fit it around my other work projects as I was going on tour, doing a TV series and panto but that all got cancelled in March.
“And now I am literally skint! You save money for a rainy day but you don’t expect the rainy day to last six months.”
He candidly continued: “Thankfully I’ve been able to borrow money from mates, my family and the bank and my wife is now very happy we can finally pay off the credit card.”
