Television presenter Kate Garraway has taken the opportunity to thank her Good Morning Britain co-star Susanna Reid for a heartfelt message she shared from behind-the-scenes at the Pride of Britain Awards 2020 as her husband Derek Draper remains in hospital.
The 53-year-old GMB star has taken to Twitter to thank her friend Susanna, 49, after she branded her an “inspiration”.
It comes after former I’m A Celeb star Kate opened up about her mixed emotions over her husband Derek Draper uttering his first word, “pain”, after being rushed to hospital with coronavirus back in March.
Speaking from behind-the-scenes at this year’s Pride of Britain Awards, which airs tonight, Susanna said: “I’d like to pay tribute to all of the families who are dealing with what COVID has dealt them.

Mother-of-two Kate spotted the heartfelt message from her pal and shared it with her 413,000 Twitter followers this afternoon.
Overwhelmed by Susanna’s sweet comments, she replied: “Goodness! Thank you so much @susannareid100.
“Looking forward to @PrideOfBritain tonight @ITV 9pm. #nhs.”
Susanna then shared Kate’s response with her own 769,000 followers and wrote: “You are so strong,” alongside a red love heart emoji.
Fans took to the comments section of Kate’s post to share their thoughts on the pair’s heartwarming exchange.
One person penned: “She’s not wrong. A true inspiration. And although we don’t know you personally we are all behind you in what most he the most horrendous journey for you and your family. You are one strong lady and show so much courage to the country.”
Another added: “Huge inspiration to everyone, how you have conducted yourself during the most heartbreaking and stressful time! People should take a leaf out of your book.”
A third fan commented: “Kate is my inspiration also and I’m sure the same will be said from so many people out there xxx.”
Kate previously gave her Instagram followers an update on the tough time she and her two children Darcey, 14, and Billy, 11, had while marking Halloween on Saturday.
The star showed fans a sneak peek of their decorated house in view of her 952,000 Instagram followers.

“Tough day as Derek loves #halloween – but the kids have encouraged me to get some of his favourite spooky kit out to celebrate him and feel better for it,” she said.
The video began with a speaking mirror, which blurted out: “Happy Halloween”.
Fans also saw a variety of decorations, including a witch, a skull and several pumpkins dotted around the room.
Kate also said doctors have now removed Derek’s tracheotomy tube, which marks a “significant change”.
Although Derek is now able to breathe without needing a ventilator after his coronavirus battle, Kate insisted that her other half still faces a long road to recovery.
She said: “[A] significant change is that they’ve been able to remove his tracheotomy tube – which is very positive as it means his lungs have started to work and aren’t solid as they were before. But he still has a long way to go.”
Kate added: “Had this happened back in May, I’d have been jubilant, but now I know how slow the change is, and how quickly things can slip backwards. I’m trying to keep my hope in check.
“Derek still needs help with his breathing, especially at night, and is very weak,” she explained to The Sun.
The Pride of Britain Awards will air on ITV at 9pm tonight
