AceShowbiz – Bosses at New York’s Tribeca Film Festival and Youtube have joined forces to present a 10-day digital film spectacular.
The event will feature productions that were set to screen at 20 major festivals throughout the world, including Cannes, Toronto and Venice ahead of the coronavirus pandemic.
“We Are One: A Global Film Festival” will kick off on YouTube beginning May 29 and feature films, shorts, documentaries, music and comedy.
“We often talk about film’s uniquely powerful role in inspiring and uniting people across borders and differences to help heal the world. All of the world needs healing right now,” said Jane Rosenthal, CEO of Tribeca Enterprises and co-founder of the Tribeca Film Festival. ” ‘We Are One: A Global Film Festival’ unites curators, artists and storytellers to entertain and provide relief to audiences worldwide. In working with our extraordinary festival partners and YouTube we hope that everyone gets a taste of what makes each festival so unique and appreciates the art and power of film.”
Donations made by viewers during the free event will benefit the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.
The news comes following Amazon Prime Video’s partnership with bosses at the SXSW Film Festival to stream projects that were set to be shown at the March event before it was cancelled.
