Peter Crouch has admitted he was “taken aback” after Prince Harry asked him how he “bagged” his supermodel wife Abbey Clancy.
The former Stoke, Tottenham and Liverpool forward labelled the 2015 incident “hilarious”, adding that Abbey was “over the moon”.
Speaking to the Radio Times, Crouch recalled: “I was taken aback. But I found it hilarious. Abs was over the moon. She thought she could be a princess.
“I had so many things I should have said back. But I was so taken aback I didn’t say anything. I’ve met him a couple of times, and Prince William. And they were both great. Really down-to-earth normal fellas.”

It comes after Crouch revealed that filming for his new BBC show ‘Peter Crouch: Save Our Summer’ was “excruciating”, with Crouch taking some of his former team-mates on experiences they could not do while they were playing.
The first episode saw Crouch skydiving with ex-Spurs midfielder Jermaine Jenas and he revealed the experience had “not been fun”.

“Part of the show is me doing the ultimate retirement,” he told the BBC. “I’ve been taking a few ex-teammates who have retired as well to do things we couldn’t do when we were playing, and the first one I did with JJ was jumping out of a plane.
“I felt confident the whole way through and as soon as we got to jumping out, that’s when I started losing it.
“When I jumped out, I’ve never been so cold. My feet were like blocks of ice and it sort of took away the enjoyment of the whole process.
“In some ways, I hope this show never gets commissioned again, because I’ve been close to death on a few occasions.
“It’s not been fun, it’s been excruciating at times, and jumping out of a plane was one of them.”
